The performance itself was unchanged from what I remember. A lot of former cast members in the audience. Clay Aiken was across the aisle from me and Eric Idle was three rows further down. At the end of the curtain call, Idle came on stage and thanked a whole bunch of people. Mike Nichols and Casey Nicholaw both came up on stage and then were joined by the other former cast members in attendance (David Hyde Pierce, Chris Sieber, Michael McGrath, among others). Eric Idle was somehow tricked into signing autographs and taking pictures at the stage door. I was able to catch Mike Nichols walking towards 44th Street.

Great performance overall. Merle Dandridge was a real stand out. I'm ashamed that it had been nearly three and a half years since I had last seen this show.

I was there tonight as well. I actually just got home. I really enjoyed it, and I am sad that it closed. Rick Holmes with his song as the Knight of Ni was hilarious. Anyone know the name because it sounded familiar but I just can't place how I know it. And yes, at stage door Eric Idle was gracious enough to sign for people. And I did like Merle, but I still like Sara Ramirez a bit better. But, Merle definitely brought what I had been missing in that role the last 2 times I saw it.

I think the most hilarious thing I heard all night though was from 2 girls sitting in front of me. Apparently they worked with the show at some point during the run, but they had no idea before tonight that the Shubert has 3 levels and not 2. We were in the rear balcony. The reason I know they did was because they left right after the finale, and were on stage when all the speeches were being made.

Marianne, the song Rick sang was Sheenah Easton's "Morning Train." Well, a hilarious version of it re: A Fond Farewell To SPAMALOT! I think I saw him do it once before, but nowhere near as long or as funny as last night. Rick was on fire last night, really outdid himself. Merle was really great but I agree, nobody can outdo Sara. I do think Michael Siberry is the best Arthur I've seen, and of course Tom Deckman and David Hibbard are always fantastic.

I was lucky enough to have a great seat (though I had a better one for the original closing show. Oh well), thought the show was great. I got a bit teary during Eric Idle's speech, Spamalot was my favourite show in years and I will really miss it. It was very cool seeing some of the original cast (and others) on stage at the end. I saw Chris Sieber and David Hyde Pierce come in and sit down before the show, they were sitting together in maybe the fourth or fifth row. The only other former cast member I saw in the audience was Clay Aiken, who was sitting further back with his boyfriend. he had an aisle seat and people kept coming up and asking for his autograph. I heard Michael McGrath and Steve Rosen were there, but I didn't see them.

Anyway, great show, everyone in the cast was good last night, very sorry it's gone. How soon before they can do a revival? re: A Fond Farewell To SPAMALOT!

Thank you! I thought I knew it, but without music sometimes, it's hard to think what the song is.

And yes, I did see Michael McGrath and Steve Rosen walk out the stage door. They were on stage at the end too. I guess it is easier to see some things from higher up maybe because you can see everything and not just what is right in front of you. But then, I did miss Clay Aiken, so I was wondering why the girl next to me at the stage door wouldn't shut up about Clay.

Spamalot has been my favourite musical since 2005-- a mix of my two favourite things, musical theatre and Monty Python. I am really sad to see it go, especially since I haven't seen it in years.

Loved last night's show! My two favorite things were hearing Rick Holmes as the head Knight of Ni improvise through My Baby Takes the Morning Train -- especially when it turned out that "my baby" had a whole other family in Milwaukee -- and getting Eric Idle's autograph at the stage door. It's totally illegible, but I know who signed it and it's a perfect souvenir. Well, almost perfect. If I'd moved a little quicker, I could have had John Du Prez sign it too. My eyes welled up at both Find Your Grail and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. Such a fun show with such a great cast. I miss it already.

I'm still in denial that there isn't going to be a show tomorrow. But, I feel the same way with Gypsy. I think it will probably sink in on Saturday when I go see Phantom and the only other show open on that street being Equus. It certainly will be more dead for that reason.

So did people come out the stage door? I was convinced they wouldn't so I just left when it was over. Damn.

Yeah, people did. Lots of former cast members, but none of them stopped. I don't blame them for some of the annoying people out there. Eric Idle did sign, although I don't think he originally had planned to. And from the current cast, Rick Holmes, Tom Deckman, Bradley Dean, and Merle Dandridge signed. Nobody else came out.

A lot of the cast, past and present, exited the stage door, waved and then made a dash for the Marquis where the party was taking place. The only person I saw signing autographs was Eric Idle, who was very cold, according to him. Mike Nichols left seconds after Eric Idle and once I got Idle's autograph (thankfully he walked up to my waiting Sharpie first), I ran around the crowd and was able to catch Mr. Nichols. I then left because it way too cold.

And Marianne, you aren't kidding about annoying people. What was with those girls at the extreme ends of the barricade having a conversation with each other from 25 feet away. I'm glad Idle walked up to me first, so I could get the hell out of there.
