"The Mystery of Edwin Drood," or "Drood" for short, is, in my opinion, one of the greatest musicals ever written. Unfortunately, it is not as well known as most other Broadway musicals, and it's cast recording has, sadly, gone out of print. If there should be a revival of any musical, it should be DROOD!
Alice Ripley for Edwin Drood! David Hyde Pierce for Jasper? Kelli O'Hara for Rosa? Emily Skinner for Princess Puffer (any excuse to put Alice and Emily back onstage together)!
I'll be happy to pass along these warm regards to the powers that be. Anything and everything to make a possible revival happen much sooner than later...
David Hyde Pierece for 'Jasper'? Not so much. David's more of a 'Bazzard' to me.
The day Kelli O'Hara could belt "The Writing on the Wall" is the day pigs fly.
Celia Keenan-Bolger or Heidi Blickenstaff for Drood, please.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Hmm. Nathan would be an interesting choice for Billy, I could see it going either way -- The timely old gent with a heart o' gold and incomparable passion for the theatrical in Mr. Hearn, or an approach otherwise all the more flamboyant and frothy for Mr. Lane.
I know they mention it in [tos], but Heidi Blickenstaff would be a perfect Drood.
I kinda like the idea of George Hearn as the Chairman.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Heidi as Drood! Or Alice Ripley of course. One can never say no to Alice Ripley. I feel like Neil Patrick Harris could potentially be good in a bunch of the roles in Drood. Bazzard, maybe, or Neville? If he were older, I could see him translating his Dr. Horrible into Jasper =).
Alice Ripley would have been great... five years ago.
Her voice couldn't go near a score like DROOD anymore.

CurtainPullDowner, but Drood is a "Best Musical," could potentially have stars in it, is interactive, and is completely fun. Very different from Tale of Two Cities I'd think.
I'll pass on this one. I enjoyed the original cast (Cleo Laine was the murderess), but never have I felt like reliving the experience. I know there are many fans, but I just didn't appreciate the score. After listening to the CD with all multiple endings, that did it for me and haven't pulled it out since. I recall that VH1 had a contest video, with the original cast that I ended up taping for 'the collection', but to be honest, I enjoyed the video as much as the actual show. (It was a fun evening...first Drood, then dinner at Windows of the World, and there's no way for me ever to recapture that!)
I would LOVE to see a Drood revival. it's such a fun, unique show, which really needs to be seen by more people.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Anyone like Leslie Kritzer as Helena? I know it's not one of the most important roles in the world, but Jana Schneider gave one of my all-time favorite performances. You should see what a gifted comic actress can do with it.
