Looking at the grosses sink lower each week, it's hard to imagine how the winter months will look. Like the shows that are grossing $400,000 now, might not make it.
Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).
but this is like the 8th thread on it, in the last week.
the world isn't over.
the economy WILL pick back up.
and so will Broadway.
the shows that have closed, because of the economy, were destined to close anyway.
It's a "crisis" for Broadway when it will effect shows like WICKED and JERSEY BOYS. But it's not really.

I understand that corporate entertaining (be it the theatre or sports events) is fairly big when business clients come to New York - that could also suffer from the economic downturn.
Maybe this could free up some of the good seats from premium ticket pricing?
I can only guess that Broadway will become a place only for MEGA hits hence the closing of Legally Blonde. People liked it but it was no "Producers". Shows that only fill an average of 60-70% will lose more money and now that the school year is in and the ****ty economy ...shows like "Chicago", "Spring Awakening" and similar will have no option other than closing. Maybe so maybe not. But Wicked, Lion King and Phantom will never die....... I hope thats not a jinks :P
