When I saw IRON MAN yesterday at a Regal Cinemas, they had a behind-the-scenes look at MAMMA MIA before previews started.
They showed clips of several songs, including "The Winner Takes It All."
So if you have a Regal Cinemas near you, get to your movie early!
Other than the trailer, this is the only other footage I have seen. The movie will either be hit-or-miss, what I have seen has potential but it looks very very cheesy. In a bad way.
Oh Meryl! MAMMA MIA?! Really?! As your movie musical debut??? *sighs and shakes head*
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

How DARE you! Hopefully its more provolone than cheddar.
For what its worth -- Meryl is a huge fan of the show MAMMA MIA! and said "yes" immediately when she was offered the film-version. No guns-to-head or arm-twisting was involved.
The bad cheese, Brody. The stinky kind that makes you gag and want to brush your teeth.

I saw the clip as well, this weekend at a local Regal Cinema, and I can't wait for this film to come out. It looks fantastic! Never entered my mind that it was cheesy or anything like that.
Remember all the nay sayers on the board, last year at this time who were predicting that "Hairspray" would fail. It sure did......it failed over $100 million in the US......ha, ha...
nealb - I have no doubt this film will rack in the millions, but what I question is whether or not it will be a GOOD film.

I HATE the stage show, but I have to say, the Regal First Look I saw today actually got me interested in the show! It looked gorgeous and Meryl just looks like she's having a blast.
PS Iron Man is amazing!
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
"Everything Meryl does, it just further shows up, how incredibly talented she is. "
Evening anyone?
I think this could either be really awful or really good. I have a feeling it's going to be ridiculously over-the-top and painful. But I hope I'm wrong.
