"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster.
"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
Having worked with Anthony in many productions over the years ('John' to my 'Peter' in JCS, 'Willard'/cover for 'Ren' to my 'Shaw Moore' in FOOTLOOSE and 'Joey' to my 'Eddie Flagrante' in ZOMBIE PROM), I can wholeheartdly attest to his work ethic being incomparable and talents being tremendous! Congrats, Medina!!! Updated On: 12/5/07 at 01:11 AM
Thanks for the info. I was so impressed by Kimiko Glenn's resume that I googled her. OMIGOD. You HAVE to see her performance of Taylor the Latte Boy on the site that can't be named. She's amazing! Does anyone know if she is playing Wendla? I googled everyone else you guys have mentioned too. Krysta Pioppi was in "13" and below is a link of her singing one of the songs.
Also cool that Anthony Medina happened to be one of the kids interviewed by Playbill last April when they were covering the huge ass open call in NYC. Here's a blurb from the article:
Very few were asked for a second song. "Today is to get a sense of what they can do as quickly as possible," Schwabe told me. But the score was kept on hand, and a select few were asked to sing from the show. While the majority of those called upon knew the score, it can be intimidating for singers to try to impress casting people with a song they've only sung in their bedroom. Anthony Lee Medina, 18, sang from the show after impressing Schwabe with his rendition of "Smash the Mirror" from Tommy. "It was awesome," said the Westchester County native. "That means they're, like, really looking at you. It was so good!" Krista Pioppi
Let me just say that Anthony Lee Medina is probably the most talented person I've ever met... he's hardworking and completely dedicated to whatever project he's working on, so I know he's going to put everything into his role in Spring Awakening. (Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's just an amazing person overall.) He's so great to watch on stage... I have a feeling he's going to steal the show like he has in every other production I've seen him in! I can't wait to see the show with this great cast.
kimiko is thea, not wendla. look her up. i went to highschool with her and there are videos from our showcases. bitch is fierce. hope she doesnt get mad at me for bragging on her. Updated On: 12/5/07 at 11:55 AM
i agree fully. anthony lee is one of my very good friends and he is a SPECTACULAR BEYOND AMAZING person. idk how so much amazingness can be in 1 kid. he simply shines on stage and you can tell it is the only thing he is supposed to be doing and he loves it more than anything. he deserves this more than anybody i know and i am soo proud of him.

Its called being an actor. He is also a very close friend of mine. and hes brilliantly talented. In many ways the roles of Melchi and Mortiz are diffrent but in many ways they are the same. Its an amazing opportunity to be a swing. Haven't you all been in a show and wanted to play another role for just one night. See he gets to do that. I couldn't be more proud. He will rock spring awakening! you just wait....
whoa! i know krista pioppi. i recently saw her in her hs production of Crazy for You for which she had the lead. she came to see my hs production of the Sound of Music. this is awesome. i need to talk to her.
