Actually if you want to get technical, "Hairspray" on Tues, Wed & Thurs had the number one screen per capita. That means, of all the screens playing movies, the ones playing "Hairspray" made the most. But Potter is on 1164 more screens and C&L 374, so if "Hairspray" were on the same amount as C&L, it would be number one.
Wow! It's had really strong weekday draw! Thanks to me! haha JK! Saw it Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday! haha! i cheated on Hairspray today and saw Chuck and Larry. OMG It was so bad I almost walked out of the theater and into one playing Hairspray. :)

"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
Just got back from seeing it again. They've transfered it to one of the smaller seating arrangements already! Granted this theater was actually full unlike the first time I saw it. Updated On: 7/31/07 at 09:52 PM
Hairspray debuts in a number of territories in August.
"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)." -Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
It's gone from #6 to #3? Awesome. It's made 95+ worldwide.

Don't know why, but Hairspray seems to be doing well Monday-Thursday. It has beaten C&L and Potter the last four weekdays, but come in behind both on the weekend.

Hairspray does well during the week - much better than the films that surpass it during the weekends.
I am sure Hairspray will pass the 100 mil mark this week, with domestic and international sales.
Hairspray opens in Argentina and Mexico this weekend as well.

I have a feeling it's gonna do better than Dreamgirls...

I hope it does better than Dreamgirls. I only saw Dreamgirls once (which was enough), whereas, I've already seen Hairspray 5 times since it opened. I know I'm good for a couple of more times, too.

I saw the HAIRSPRAY movie yesterday- thought it was great, a little disappointed, but definitely the best movie musical made recently and a ton of fun. Yeah, I really want to see the movie again now :) Wish I saw it instead of THE SIMPSONS MOVIE today, err
Anyways, congrats to HAIRSPRAY on over $100 million. I think thats a great sign- imagine when the dvd comes out! This movie is going to turn out very successful in the end.

Looks like Hairspray finally beat out Chuck and Larry.
Estimates show Hairspray took the #6 position with $6,370,000 with Chuck and Larry at #7 with $5,950,000.
Still a tight margin. It may be too close to call.
But Hairspray is still in good shape!
