After seeing Godspell last night, I can add Hunter Parrish to my list of nicest Broadway stars. He had a cold last night and he still took a gracious amount of time with the crowd at stage door (and a large school trip who he took a big group picture with.) Just very sweet and humble. In fact, the entire cast were just really nice and chatted with everyone while they signed.

Aaron Tveit after a matinee of "Catch Me.." in the dying heat of July. He was the first out and talked with people and answered questions and was extremely polite.

Meredith is right about Marian Seldes - a very, very sweet woman who immediately treats you like an old friend. Also Judi Dench, Bernadette Peters, and Sally Field after The Goat - very approachable and fan friendly. Also Geraldine Page after Agnes of God - chatted with her for 10 minutes at the stage door after a matinee - most of the people didn't recognize her in the bag lady attire. David Hyde Pierce. Chita Rivera. Also Angela Lansbury - after a Gypsy performance in Cleveland. Had brought flowers and was invited into dressing room to chat. She took charge, immediately made you feel comfortable - a very charming and gracious lady.

Forgot to mention Lauren Bacall - after Woman of the Year ------ NOT. She knocked down me and three old ladies charging from the stagedoor to her taxi. What a bitch.

Marion Seldes…. such a sweet woman. I had to do a life casting of her for Three Tall Women. She came to my shop and was very patient while we took the impression of her face for the Old Woman in the bed. We offered her and her husband (he passed away a few months later) a sandwich and a drink. She jwas just so gracious. About a month and a half later, I received a wonderful post card from her (she was touring with the show) thanking me for the wonderful experience and how pleased she was with the results.
Since then I have run into her numerous times. She always remembers the experience and always thanks me for the hospitaliy.

I have met so many nice people at stage doors. Laura Bell Bundy and the whole Legally Blonde cast, Kristin Chenoweth, Stephanie J Block, Hunter Parrish, Alice Ripley. Lots of nice ones.

My mom thought Lauren Bacall was a real b*tch when she wouldn't sign her playbill at the Tony Awards in 1981. Luckily Jack Klugman did.

Every celeb I've ever met was very gracious and happy to meet me.
Some favorite encounters were Gregory Jbara, Dick Latessa, Wayne Cilento, Victor Garber, Paul Shafer, Martin Short, Mary Tyler Moore, Arthur Laurents, Rita Wilson, Michael Rupert, and more!
Even Barry Weissler was a pleasure!

Sutton is very sweet. I do think everyone has their good and bad days. When I met Stephanie Block, she seemed in a rush and very inconsiderate. I know she is a great person though.

Sally Hawkins! I was so excited to see her in the otherwise dull Mrs. Warren's Profession. She and Cherry Jones were about the nicest people I have ever met. I brought my Happy Go Lucky Dvd and she wrote the nicest note on the sleeve. I could not have been more thrilled. Then Cherry Jones came out and talked to me for a good 10 minutes. Those two ladies are a class act.

But in general almost everyone is pretty nice. The cast of Lyssie J. was so sweet and excited to sign autographs (as it was many of their Broadway debut's).

Sherrie Rene Scott was actually a sweetheart at the final performance of Everyday Rapture on Broadway.

At St. Ann's Warehouse one cast member of Brief Encounter took my window card and helped me get the rest of the cast to sign it. They all personalized it to me. Still one of my favorite souvenirs.

Brian D'Arcy James - so sweet posed a bunch with my daughter. Kind man cnsidering how tired he must have been after the show.

Jerry O'connell was an absolute dream after Seminar. Chatty and sweet.

I work on Broadway, see a lot of shows, and socialize with lots of actors, so I've had different experiences than some on this thread.

That said, the most genuinely lovely (to everyone they meet, not just fans at the stage door--because trust me, everybody knows it's in their best interest to be nice to people who may go post about it on message boards) are Karen Mason, Michael Rupert, Richard Blake, Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janet Dacal, Norm Lewis, and Daniel Radcliffe. Steve Kazee is indeed a sweetheart. And I have heard plenty of diva stories about Raul Esparza, but he has been nothing but nice every time I've ever seen him.

Aaron Tveit and Reeve Carney. Both are very kind and strike up conversations with the people waiting at the stage door for them. Jennifer Damiano and John Gallagher Jr. also left me with fantastic experiences at the stage door as well.

Have been lucky to have had several really great stage door experiences:

PATRICK WILSON - After "Barefoot in the Park," even though it was snowing outside, he and his (pregnant) wife Dagmara were so amazingly sweet and took photos and lingered and talked for a long time.

JONATHAN GROFF - So crazy nice after "The Submission!" He stuck around for a long time humoring a bunch of teenaged "Gleeks" taking photos with them and recording happy birthday videos for their friends.

HUGH JACKMAN - The patience and good humor he showed for the mobs of fans before and after his solo show was truly amazing.

LAURA OSNES, CLAYBOURNE ELDER, AND MELISSA VAN DER SCHYFF - After Bonnie & Clyde. They were so gracious and grateful to their fans' continued support. Asked fans to hand out their "wanted" posters etc.

also... JERRY O'CONNELL, LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA, AARON TVEIT

I'd like to add Nick Jonas to the list. Large crowds waiting for him both before and after the shows, and he is very sweet and patient with them, and really tries to get to as many people as possible, even standing out in the rain to do so. He doesn't decline autographs or pictures with anyone he gets to.

Some of the more insane fans even have stood outside his apartment (a newspaper printed his building's address, don't know why they thought that was a good idea) and even though I am sure he felt that was crossing the line, he was still kind to them, signing and taking pictures quickly.

Mary Martin and Robert Preston on the road with I DO! I DO!. Also, Ethel Merman and Anna Russell backstage during their last concert tours. They were pros who knew how to treat their fan bases in the provences.

I second the motion on Robert Preston. He was absolutely fabulous, took interest in every fan, posed for pictures, the whole gamut. I later learned from one of the waiters at Sardi's that he was their favorite too. It's great when someone with that talent has the time to be a real mensch.
