Hey guys I have an audition for Avenue Q coming up, and I was wondering what types of songs I should chose to look at for my audition. I thought about doing something from Avenue Q, but im not sure if I should or not.
Any suggestions?

Can't help you there, but I do know that the songs in Q are general spoofs of Sesame Street songs, so, you may laugh at this, but maybe you could sing "Sing" from the TV show, you know "Sing/Sing a song/Sing out loud/Sing out strong..."
"Ev'ry-buddy wants ta get into de act!"
- Jimmy Durante
"Breathe from your hoo-hoo."
-Kristin Chenoweth
ill be sure to post to let you guys know how it goes! im really excited...i never thought of doing a song from sesame street. thatd be awesome! haha. all the audition said was to get a song that of course, shows range, and that is apropos to a specific character

I was gonna drive up to LA for these auditions myself but alas! The Full Monty rehearsal is the day before we get into the space...I would go in there singing a light hearted musical theatre pop type song. I wasn't 100% sure as to what I would do either but that's the general direction I'd start heading. Good luck!!
Not vocally too complex, but if you can do a good puppet-y voice, that'd be great
"In the rain, the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever."
They specifically mentioned to sing a song appropo to the type of characters and music in the show. I know that's not VERY specfic, but it's specific enough to get you started.
Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...
At the last audition, about halfway through, all of the people auditioning were reminded (with a note of exasperation) that avenue Q was a musical COMEDY.
As a parent of two toddlers, I can think of a Sesame Street analogue for most of the songs in Avenue Q. "If You Were Gay" highlights the way Nicki exasperates Rod just as "I Dance Myself To Sleep" does with Bert and Ernie. "I Wish I Could Go Back to College" is so similar to "I'd Like to Visit the Moon" it's scary. I'm serious -- sing "You Gotta Put Down the Ducky" or "What's the Name of That Song?"
