“Tammy Faye musical by Elton John to reopen historic Palace Theatre”

I hate this for us.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

What a waste of a grand opening

The last musical there was SpongeBob, let’s not get too precious here.

Is this going to reopen the Palace, or is something else coming this Spring?

Well it won’t last long, I’m sure. What’s next for the Palace?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Palace seems too big for this show but not Elton’s ego.

I'm assuming it will be different from the Almeida Theatre production.  The lyricist has talked about adding new songs for Broadway.

TAMMY FAYE went back into re-development after the Almeida production culminating in a workshop this past October. So yes, expect a much different and much larger production.

Nobody has seen the new version of the show which just went through revisions this past October so not sure why you would think it isn't "big" enough and as for Elton's ego, he has reworked the score/written new songs though not as extensively as DEVIL WEARS PRADA which now has an entirely new score top top bottom.

Folks with big egos usually don't admit their work needs improvement and then return to the drawing board.

No?

Tammy is the 1st musical hearing starting previews fall '24 and a Pop star (Gaga?) will be opening the Palace spring '24.

It has the exact same creative team as the Almeida production, and there is 1 new song. That's it. Expect something very similar to the original.

If it is the Palace, its totally wrong for this show.

Robbie's photo of the theatre just makes me excited to get to be in there no matter the show.  Excited to see what the next year brings.

BroadwayWorld just confirmed! Katie and Andrew will reprise their roles at the Palace this fall!

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

I fear the palace might be too big for this intimate show. Was hoping they would open at a smaller theater - but guess they are banking on Elton's star power

I think it’ll be a flop, but Katie’s performance makes it a must see flop and anyone who sees it will not be disappointed. Also, I don’t think this show is the kind of train wreck that truly awful shows are such as opening night in the west end or Carrie etc. it’s at least decent and not an embarrassment.
