Common was a guest on 'The View' on Monday, Dec 5, plugging his play "Between Riverside and Crazy" . Of course, the interview started out the way just about every interview starts out these days on 'The View' - the guest does the obligatory "Whoopi ass-kissing" as soon as they sit down, and Common didnt disappoint. As soon as that was out of the way, he talked about the play (and his 'amazing costars' and the show actually sounded pretty good. Sunny Hostin was not there for the interview, but they said she had seen it the other night, and loved it. The others said they will be going to see it, as well. Everyone in the audience went home with a pair of tickets.

You betcha. It’s really gotten out of control with every guest who comes on, noticed by many longtime viewers of the show and discussed on multiple message boards. Today, Sally Field was a guest and she started her segment by kissing Whoopi’s ass. It must be in Whoopi’s contract that every guest who comes on stage does this.

I have no axe to grind re: Whoopie but yes, I have also noticed it happens a lot. And yup, they come out and immediately praise Whoopie for something.
I'm not sure why that's surprising? Nobody on that panel is as culturally beloved as she is. Nor, are any of them that famous. Whoopi still holds the highest box office gross of all time for Black leading actress. If you want somebody who won't suck up all the attention, don't hire a superstar.

Nobody ever did this the season Rosie was moderating. And she knew just about every celebrity who guested on The View as she knew them from her own show which ran for 6 seasons. Some of them were just starting out and Rosie gave them their big break on her show. No one kissed her ass during interviews.
That’s not true, plenty of guests praised Rosie when they appeared - it’s nowhere near what Whoopi gets, but Whoopi is also an icon. She’s an EGOT. I get it. She’s been manning the ship from the Barbara Walters role, and Rose was a bit controversial and outspoken during her time on the show.

I guess comprehension is a challenge for you if that’s what you got from my post."
If you had wanted to discuss "Riverside and Crazy," you could have posted in the "R&C" thread that already exists. If you had wanted your comments to be slanted to "The View," you could have posted in "The View" thread. But you created this thread specifically to trash Whoopi. Otherwise, your nasty comments would just be lost in the muddle of BWW threads.

Well, I watched that interview with Sally field, and she didn't kiss whoopi's ass like you said she did. She gave her a few compliments about working on a film they did together 'Soap Dish', and spoke about the fun they had filming it. It wasn't just about whoopi, but the entire experience that she spoke about. Your claim that she kissed whoopi's ass is a stretch.

Common was in for tonight's show. But honestly, he's the weakest one. I enjoyed the play a lot, and probably would enjoy a little more if I saw Common's understudy...

I comprehend very well. "
I started this thread to highlight his appearance on The View. It didn’t belong in the other two threads. Again, your comprehension is very slanted if not completely off.

Field has been on the show many times in the past 15 years that Whoopi has moderated. Every time she sits down for her segment she retells the same story about working with WG in 1991 on Soapdish. The same exact story from 30+ years ago. Every time she’s on. No reason for her to go on the show this week and tell us again for the umpteenth time except to kiss her ass. Again.
Some common sense advice: Stop watching and engaging with media that you do not actually enjoy. Hate watching Smash was fun, hate watching a morning show is…boring. Especially if it’s not any good drama like the Hasselbeck/Rosie days.
You just hate hearing people praise Whoopi, and that’s fine, but just as on observer reading the room - you’re on your own with this opinion, at least here. I’m sure there’s a View subreddit or something that would serve this opinion better

So now you're trashing both Whoopi Goldberg AND Sally Field. Wow. Just Wow.
