Today both Trouble in Mind and Caroline, or Change finish their limited runs on Broadway. Speaking for myself, these were two of my favorite productions of the Fall. They really got the right people for each production.

On a side note, I don't think either of these productions had to cancel performances due to COVID once, even when things started to get crazy. Not sure if Roundabout is doing something different with their protocols or if it was just luck, but glad everyone was able to be kept safe and the shows could go on.

Thank you, Roundabout. For producing these two shows that rarely are done, but likely have been introduced to thousands of new fans.

Roundabout was completely on top of Covid protocols unlike the other bway shows.  That's why!

Thank you roundabout!

Two highlights of the season.

I wish both had had better attendance, especially Trouble In Mind (which, as a starless play, would have been a tough sell even without the pandemic).

But if a nonprofit is going to be doing revivals, this type of work should be their focus.

Huge shout out to their audience services team as well. Had to move my Caroline tickets a few times due to illness and their agents were always available and helpful!

I really wish they would have filmed Trouble In Mind for PBS😞 I was totally ignorant to Alice Childress and have read some of her work since this production brought her to my attention.

Well PBS generally doesn't fund the filming of shows –– it's outside investors/producers, and then PBS licenses it. And considering the lack of star-power and the current financial/covid situation, it's not a shock that it didn't get filmed.

I have a feeling we will see a lot of regional productions of TROUBLE IN MIND in the coming years. This has reinvigorated interest in the property.

I could be reading into it way too much, but Caissie Levy's Twitter post said "bye for now." I wonder if someplace like the Ahmanson could be planning to remount the Broadway production of CAROLINE? Doubt it would have a real "tour," but maybe a sitdown in LA and maybe even a few other key markets (Chicago? SF? Boston?) Again, this could be nothing.

These two shows would have been highlights of any season, and we were so spoiled to have them running at the same time. I hope both productions are remembered long after.
