This is such a random question, but I realized I've never bought a ticket for a date in the future at the in-person box office of a Broadway show.

If I did, would there not be any of those pesky fees on Telecharge or SeatGeek, etc?

No fees if you buy in person at the box office!

I bought a ticket to Dear Evan Hansen at the box office a few weeks ago and paid just the face value of the ticket without fees.

Keep in mind, although you would be saving the fees, you might have a more difficult time if a discount came along and or you had to cancel the ticket.  I have never purchased directly from the box office,(  I almost did last trip), but I know it isn't the same of what Telecharge is doing now.  Which is convenient and flat out wonderful.

No fees.

A few months ago I was able to return the tickets at the box office as well for an in person purchase. Not sure if I would have been able to over the phone.

Thank you, all! This is great news. I’ll have to take advantage of this.

every time I think I find a ticket in the right budget, I go to checkout and it’s $20 or more above the ticket price. Thank you all so much!

Refunds are always as pointb of purchase. Most of the time, discount codes are honored at the box office, since the production creates them.

I purchase from the box office as often as possible to avoid the additional fees. I would suggest, though, that you pay with either a debit or credit card. If there's a problem down the road, things are easily resolved if the ticket is on your card.

I was talking about a discount coming up AFTER you purchased a ticket.  Other than what Telecharge is doing now, every venue that I have purchased from then and even NOW, state all tickets purchases are final.  No refunds or exchanges.  I purchased last week a ticket to the Come From Away tour.  Now Lucky Seats is doing a lottery for $30.  I would be laughed at if I asked for a refund, now that there is a cheaper option.
