It seems like Hugh has been in serious dance training for this one, and of course that's one of Sutton's strengths as well. Has there been any word on changes that they're planning or is it too early to know that?

They're supposed to start rehearsals on October 28, 2021 -- a little over than 2 weeks...so maybe some insiders may tease us with hints?

He has just wrapped filming of the adaptation of Florian Zeller's THE SON ( star-studded cast that includes himself, Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby & Anthony Hopkins) while Sutton has just completed her stint with ANYTHING GOES in London. Both would be ready for The Music Man soon!

Hugh has always been doing regular dance training for a long time now -- maybe starting when he first came to Broadway in The Boy From Oz? He says he dances and sings regularly, even when he is doing any filming ( his trailer is useful for that).

He has also said how fight choreography in action/superhero movies bears a strong similarity to dance choreography

I think it's safe to assume that Harold and Marian will both dance quite a lot more in this production. Maybe even tap. MUSIC MAN famously only had 3 real "dance" numbers (76 Trombones, Marian the Librarian, Shipoopi) in the original show.

The musical arrangements will also be...interesting...to hear for Marian, since Sutton is not a soprano.

Agreed. Love me some Sutton Foster but I'm really trying to envision her renditions of Till There Was You and Goodnight, My Someone.

Perhaps Hugh will incorporate some if the hopping he perfected at the Tony Awards a few years ago.

Very much so. A lot of action stars have backgrounds in stage acting for this reason - actors like Hugh Jackman and Tom Holland weren't muscular originally because they were action heroes, they were muscular because they were dancers. Similar deal with professional wrestlers - wrestling is a carefully choreographed combination of dance and stunt work that requires a lot of strength to get right without hurting yourself or others. The muscles aren't just for aesthetics.

Jackman put on the muscle for aesthetics. He had to eat chicken breasts like nobodies business, setting alarms throughout the night. He is naturally rake thin

LOGAN was filmed in 2016.

Next films did not require "aesthetics" (GreatestShowman/FrontRunner/BadEducation/Reminiscence/TheSon)

Seen last October 11, 2021 walking in NYC --

It’s less for the films and more for the brand: Jackman isn’t Christian Bale, he needs to remain looking fit and heroic to keep himself an A-list option for the many action films in which he appears.

I just watched this video of her performing 'Tonight' from West Side Story with Brian Stokes Mitchell at the Hollywood Bowl back in 2018. Maria, like Marian, is a role that is typically played by a legit soprano. I think Sutton Foster should be fine.

There was a recent clip featuring Jerry Zaks on how he was progressing with the 2 shows that will be on Broadway soon. There was mention of sessions with Sutton on some nuances of acting for the Marian character, Maybe we will see a more interesting characterization of The Librarian?

Btw, here is a short clip of Sutton singing a few lines of 'Til There Was You - singing it like a lullaby.

Is 'Music Man' trying to change the show's logo from blue and orange to blue and red? It seems all the new social media marketing is red, white and blue now? I liked the orange and thought it kept it from looking too similar to the recent 'Hello, Dolly!' revival logo.

I preferred blue and pale orange on off white background, it was a beautiful design. The new red white and blue logo looks like a political campaign sign.

Very insightful interview  with Jerry Zaks on his 2 key Broadway projects (Mrs Doubtfire & The Music Man)

The interview I have referredt to earlier but without the corresponding video link.

Re The Music Man, I am getting the impression that he would like to explore the romantic angle more -- how two people who are not interested in each other's type get connected. Harold Hill doesn't think he needs anyone while Marian has not found someone who fits the bill of her ideal man. Maybe a fine romance ?

I realize many people on here have probably already seen this, but for any who haven't, Barbara Cook singing Til There Was You on Tony Awards, 30 years after and sounding even more glorious with that stunning instrument. I'm looking forward to Sutton's different approach and sound as well, but for me it doesn't get more beautiful than this:

This made me laugh really hard, I don't even know why. I thought that it was interesting they changed it after YEARS of the blue/orange being the official colors. It really does look like a sign I see every election season. I wonder what their merch will look like now since it probably all needed to be changed.

Hugh Jackman has shared that rehearsals for The Music Man starts on October 28!

https://twitter.com/hugh_ig/status/1453366766046957571?s=20

Given that the Winter Garden is free (in these abnormal times when all theatres closed during a prolonged period) - will they do rehearsals there now? Or will they start it in a smaller rehearsal studio and move on early to the theatre ?

Anybody know  the additional casting ( like the barbershop quartet? etc.)?

This song also was a showstopping moment in the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to her.  Audra singing it and then the big reveal of the orchestra and a huge chorus.

I'm guessing complete casting will be announced tomorrow.
