I just got an email announcing that the Stars in the House Live event at Town Hall has been cancelled.  Anyone know why?

Just checked my e-mail and I got one also. Says a refund is on its way to my account.

I am wondering if they were not able to get the same line-up of people for the new date. I am ok with this though as I had a conflict on the new date that I was trying to work out.

Tickets did not seem to be selling well. I also found it interesting that he really wasn't advertising it. I never saw it on his Facebook page. He had a really good line-up of big names so I found it odd that he wasn't really pushing it.

Ticket sales seemed poor and honestly I think everyone is completely over the "Stars in the House" thing. It was fun for awhile but people have moved on, are getting out of the house, and don't want reminders of those dark, dark first few months of Covid. Just my view though.

As much as I hate agreeing with that, I think there’s a lot of truth there.

I do want to say that what Seth and James created, what will now live forever on YouTube, is an invaluable history of modern Broadway. The candid behind the scenes stories and oral histories of shows that were told over the past year and a half is something that will be looked back on for generations and I hope this unfortunate cancellation doesn’t spoil all they’ve done.

I think they waited too long to do this. Should've happened in August at an outdoor venue.

I loved so many of the episodes of Stars in the House. I hope they stay in the Youtube universe...unlike many of the great conversations from Seth's Broadway Chatterbox.

I haven't watched an episode in a while. He's only doing shows on Mondays and Tuesdays now. Tuesday's have been game night.

Seth and James talked about the cancellation on their show last night (Waltons vs. Little House on the Prairie game night). It wasn't because of ticket sales - it had something to do with the logistics of covid protocols making it impossible to do (I forget exactly what he said). The reason Seth hasn't been promoting it is because they suspected for the last month that it might not happen.

I agree that it was valuable and even important as a lifeline of sorts in its time. Maybe that time has passed but also maybe the intimacy cannot translate for many of us. I can't imagine what covid logistics they could be facing that are that much more challenging than every other live performance.

Yes, it doesn’t really make sense. Most theatres are open and following guidelines. Not sure what they were dealing with. Isn’t he opening a solo show as well? That seems to be going on without issue.

He is talented and the amount of money he raised with Stars In The House is impressive. The work he does for charity is commendable.

I know folks love him, but I can only handle him in very small doses. I think he really needs a vacation and maybe to step away for a while. He’s over saturated IMHO. I think he suffers from intense FOMO and never takes breaks. I don’t even like to go see a performer when he is their accompanist because he manages to make the show all about him. It’s really irritating. I guess performers must love working with him though. They keep collaborating.
