I hope everyone is well and looking forward to getting back to live theater!  I was just starting to plan a trip to the city and went looking for Music Man tickets.  There's nothing about buying tickets on the Music Man website and telecharge has a weird message about tickets only being able to be rebooked.  Totally get that those who had the pre-pandemic get priority for rebooking, but does anyone know when they will go on sale for everyone else? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing the other day! Maybe they are waiting!

It's not a weird message, it's said that for many months and makes sense. Since it doesn't start utnil December, they have a very healthy advance in terms of ticket sales, and people's tickets who booked for 2020 are well booked into the Summer of 2022, I doubt they will be on sale anytime soon. I am thinking the Fall possibly.

I don’t think anyone knows for sure.

Word on the street is that there’s another postponement coming, with an eye on opening in the Spring, rather than the dead of winter. If that’s true, this may be the reason there’s been no news about when tix go back on sale.

Sunshine, the MM producer Scott Rudin was forced out.  None of his shows have known ticket dates: MM, West Side Story, To Kill a Mockingbird, Book of Mormon, only exchanges for ticket holders.  Rumor has been they have to secure new producer(s) and work out, among other things, financial/legal issues.

Following are links to stories about his whack behavior that caused the chaos, if u wish to read.  Hollywood Reporter got his termination/withdrawal started.

I bought my tix Aug 2019 and held them through tkt changes in 2020 and 2021. I now have tix for first night back Dec 21. If that's pushed bak to 2022 I may give up or add them to my will.   Music Man Tickets?

If there's another postponement coming I'm gonna be pissed. I've started planning a trip around my March Music Man tickets.

Is the issue soft ticket sales for The Music Man... or is it something else?

Even the link states: slow ticket sales EXCEPT for Music Man.

The writer of that article is a hack. Six is also selling very well for the rest of the year. Except for resale, the entire preview period is completely sold out, and many other dates after opening and throughout the fall are either sold out or close to it.

Also, unless he has access to exchange for MM, I doubt he even knows how it's selling. I went on recently to help a friend look for seats to exchange into, and there were plenty available for the great majority of performances. I'd go so far as to say that, except for the first preview, only a few (if any) shows are completely sold out, and even that one might not be.

If you take out the Ticketmaster resale seats, I'd say Six has more sold-out dates. Granted, the Brooks Atkinson is considerably smaller than the Winter Garden, but still.

Hamilton needs to lower the ticket prices, in my opinion. I've never seen the  show on Broadway because of prohibitive ticket cost and thought I would finally buy a ticket to see it post pandemic, but the movie on Disney plus made me feel less left out. I think if Hamilton tickets are no longer a hot commodity, $149 should get you more than a seat in nosebleeds.

I’d hold off until tickets go back on sale.

As for The Music Man tickets, they’re only available for exchanges for current ticket holders. No new sales have been available for several months. This morning, I went in, as a current ticket holder, to see what is available. The stock of available seats is significant. Don’t understand where the notion that this is at all a sellout. Quite the contrary. Seats are plentiful.

I will tell you, too, that this show has a massive amount of “premium seats” — the first 15 -17 rows of the orchestra! Hopefully, the new producing team (which I know will be the old one, sans Rudin) will re-think.

But if my sources are to be believed (and I’m confident they are), there’s another postponement coming.

Yeah, Im sure they'll get right on that since they NEED to.

Just checking random weekday dates for shows like Wicked and Hamilton for tge first month of sales show limited-to-no availability. So I'm not sure what definition of "slow ticket sales" is being used.

1. ONE month of great sales doesn't help anyone, so I'm sure they are looking a bit further out than that.

2.  My post was in response to Jo's post asking if perhaps Music Man had soft sales.

Oh noooo Fagnes Gooch. Not again.

Possibly lawyers, producers, actors, Indian chiefs, etc in a mess preventing Dec opening

Fagnes Gooch, what happened to your "word on the street" that you mentioned that the show was being postponed again?  Who is telling you this wrong information?

My source stands by the info. He has suggested that the sudden sale was a money grab to assist the production but that there is still another postponement coming. All kinds of legal issues have to be resolved. Allegedly.

He’s pretty reliable and “in the know”.

But, look, it’s not the production hasn’t postponed before. I’m not sure why you think that the tickets going on sale suddenly means it isn’t being postponed again. That the tickets are on sale again (and I bought more tickets myself — so it’s not like I’m ROOTING for the show to delay again) doesn’t suggest at all that the show isn’t going to postpone.

What’s hard to grasp about that?

Dude, I have, thanks to a weird glitch in on Telecharge’s system (and thanks for the heads up CT2NYC) two seats the week before opening in Row C. Center orchestra.  On the aisle. And I got em in exchange for my much lousier seats. And, as of Tuesday, two seats on the aisle for my birthday in June. But you’re acting as if I want the show to postpone again. And that, on a Broadway chat board, it was wrong of me to actually, you know, chat.

Snap out of it, Rose.

That makes no sense. The production doesn't get the money right away from ticket sales.. Its held in escrow until the performance has happened.

I’m just relaying what he said. He also spoke about legal stuff after the Rudin replacement and that things need to be settled. He said “the production will be happen but it’s most likely going to be postponed again.”

I’m not rooting for the thing to be postponed. Just telling you what a reliable source has suggested. But, hey, I’m just a troll. 🙄

Fagnes Gooch, "He also spoke about legal stuff after the Rudin replacement and that things need to be settled."

That I could well believe.  Entertainment lawyers battling over every dotted I and crossed T's, plus the wrangling of the financials.
