It’s a good trailer. Looks fun. It is what we need right now. BTW she is in Mare of Eastown which is playing currently on HBO. I do not know what to think of HBOMax conceptually. Why not do it all on HBO and include the first run movie premieres but charge more.....
I've watched the first two episodes. I absolutely adore it. It's a breath of fresh air. Jean is perfect for the role and there is so much room to work the relationship between her and the young writer. Jean can do comedy, heartbreak and pathos with ease. I hope this show makes it. It's populated with interesting supporting players. It has some laugh out loud moments as well as poignancy.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
I’m really glad Meg Stalter has a role in this show. I haven’t watched it yet, but she’s so funny on Twitter and I’m so glad the bigwigs at HBO Max gave her a chance on a show with big names like Jean Smart and Kaitlin Olsen.
I think Jean Smart is a shoo-in to win the Emmy this year. She's had a long and illustrious career, but this role is the icing on the cake.
Hannah Einbinder, who plays Ava, is also brilliant, and I hope she doesn't get lost in the shuffle come awards season. Clearly, she's co-lead on the series, but I'm assuming she'll be pushed in the supporting categories.
According to a Deadline article it has already been given a Season 2 Renewal. :)
I must have missed this the other day.
"Jean Smart comedy Hacks is returning for more Las Vegas laughs. HBO Max has renewed the series, which also stars Hannah Einbinder, for a second season."
