This is earth shattering news on BWW, a member posted that he/she voted for Biden and Democrats -lol. On serious note, glad you exercised your right to vote.

I am so glad you voted blue today, although you are in a forever red state, keep fighting the good fight!

Forever red? Maybe, who knows— a lot of our problem is apathy. People don’t think there will ever be change, so they don’t vote. But I know a lot of politically engaged young people who are out voting this year! Maybe in a few cycles Tennessee could look purple at least.

That would be amazing. I never thought Texas would ever turn purple much less blue this year (fingers crossed), so you never know!

yankeefan trots out the "ho-hum I could've predicted this" trope instead of saying clearly why he/she/they imagines that artists and arts appreciators might think, behave and vote the way they do and even more interestingly why people like he/she/they and Roxy and others do NOT. What are all the people with moral and ethical standards enough to cast their votes for the party that doesn't want so many of them dead MISSING that these insightful folks can see? Would love to read it, instead of snark. To borrow your phrase, yank, LOL but at you not with you.

PS: Good job gorlious and others

I voted absentee 2 weeks ago. I took it to the post office, stood in the line, and handed it directly to the clerk at the counter. I found out this week that it has been received and counted. I am SO glad! I managed to get my sister to vote this year-no easy feat. But I'm happy she did.

First, it is quite easy to create a post saying you voted for somebody when you know 99.9% of the people will agree with you and then go on to praise you which was my reason for the "snark". It takes a lot more "guts" to say you are not a Democrat on this board and have everybody gang up on you and call you the usual names. Second, I praised the OP for doing their civic duty and voting but guess you missed that part of my post. Ok, one example why artists may like Democrats more is that they are more into the government funding the arts while Republicans want it to be done by the private sector. There are a bunch of other reasons but I will let you and other Democrats make the case.

What a hero yankeefan is to hide behind a screen name and say he isn't a democrat.

Where in his post does he state this?  I read the majority of his posts and I don't think he has stated either way.  But if he is.....who cares?  The majority on here who post nasty comments "hide behind a screen name".  Most  would NEVER have the guts to say it in person to someone's face.

I think it takes guts to admit you are a Republican anywhere these days because it's probably deeply embarrassing for a number of reasons. But, I appreciate that both you and your wife will be voting for Joe Biden this year, and not a lying racist/rapist/sociopath. America appreciates your vote! smiley

Just curious, is "carnzee" your real name? How many people on this board go by their real name?

It is ok "Highland Guy", sadly this is fairly common on this board.  I appreciate your concern and that you always treat people with respect even when you disagree.

Exactly "ArtMan".  People on this board have said some pretty awful things while "hiding behind a screen name". I bet the percentage of people who actually use their real name on this board is under 1% -lol.

In the comments section of an NPR article regarding the recent Supreme Court decision over the census counts I saw somebody from TN claiming it would be great to do a recount because of the number of people they knew who moved from NYC and CA to parts of TN due to COVID, and hoping it would take some of their electoral power away. Of course they ignore the fact a migration shift like that could very well turn the state purple, if not all the way blue (though I'm guessing many people they know were probably hunkering down with family and not filing permanent residence changes)

Of course most people don't use their real names here. You were talking about how much "guts" it takes to admit you aren't a democrat on here, and I just found that ridiculous because it doesn't take "guts" to say anything behind a false name.

I was just irritated because I thought you injected negativity and snark into this thread with your post at no 2. There's enough negativity nowadays without adding more. I'm sorry I responded the way I did. Going forward, I will do my part and not respond with anything negative to any of your future posts.

I assume they were referring to this part of the post: "There are a bunch of other reasons but I will let you and other Democrats make the case."

Seems to imply through the wording that he is not a Democrat. At least that's how I interpreted it, like, he's saying that he will let a Democrat make the case. But he could also just mean other Democrats besides himself. IDK. It's open for interpretation.

Anyway on to the topic of this thread, I got my ballot in the mail today and filled it out, will deliver it off personally in the morning. I voted blue. I look better in it anyway, red makes me look fat. Lolzz
