The whole world posting on twitter: "black lives matter" is peculiar too. OF COURSE they do. Why is everyone trying to convince themselves that they do? If you see people as equals you would never call a LIFE black or white. People matter and not everything is about race.
I think the USA has a long way to go with its radical terms as black and white, the need to connect everything to race, even the flavour of a starbucks coffee, and hopefully in 100 years some real equality will show, but the way they do it now is not the right path, it creates a bigger separation. The "black lives matter" posts also create a bigger separation, as it becomes impossible for black people to be seen as normal or equals. The cop might love black people and just hate thieves for example. There is more to the world than black and white."
Wow. Just unbelievable...

Oh, come on. Do a simple search and you'll find plenty of examples. Let's at least be truthful when we post. There are some on here that are gullible enough to believe such statements and take them as fact.
I think that poster has received all the responses that they deserved, and now I would caution everyone not to allow the discussion around these protests to be derailed by the red herrings and bad faith talking points posited mostly by people who want only to justify the increasingly militarized, unaccountable police state. This is bigger than just George Floyd. This is bigger than Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arberry, Philando Castile, et al. This has been going on for many years and many have been the victims.
And as we saw with Donald Trump's call for fascist "domination" of protesters, the ramifications of White Supremacist infiltration of the police force and its militarization extend beyond just the black community. It affects us all as citizens of this country. We ignore (or rationalize) this at our own peril.

Spot on. It's extremely disturbing to learn that that the Attorney General is the architect of the egregious assault on civil liberties. All this because Trump, Barr, or Stephen Miller wasn't the first pick for the playground dodge ball team.

Yes, this administration and the party which has culminated in, enabled, and abetted its anti-American, anti-Constitutional machinations is rotten to the core Trump, Barr, McConnell, et al. are enemies of American democracy and its citizens, in my eyes. The black community is leading the country right now in holding them accountable. They've borne the brunt of systemic oppression in this country, and now everyone else is finally waking up to the horrors of the status quo.
So right now, in many big cities, mayors and other leaders are calling for police departments to be stripped of some of their funding in order to have the money used for social programs. In the meantime cops are being assaulted with bricks, bottles, knives, etc. Many men and women who are just trying to protect people and property and have done nothing wrong are being injured and vilified from all sides.
If I was cop right now I would just want to walk away, give everyone the finger, and say screw you, protect your own f....g city. See how that works out for you.
