I know it may sound a bit crazy but does anybody think there may be an end to the paper Playbill? It is not like a program at a sporting event where you get charged for it and the team makes money. Playbill is free and wonder if they can develop an online edition for ticket buyers. This way people are not touching something that has had many people handling it. Just curious what everybody thinks about it.
Playbill is free for us but a great source for advertising. I'm not a fan of virtual Playbills - the way they did it for Paramour was annoying - but I could see them morphing into glossy souvenir programmes like they do in the West End, not as big and pricey as the souvenir brochures, and they would reduce waste and prevent recycling of the free ones put back in the stack on the way out.

Personally, I like the way they do it on the West End. The programs are very nice and I don't mind paying 4 pounds for them, I think that was the cost last time I went to a show there. I think doing it that way may be a good idea in the future.

I don't see it happening because of the current situation.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
The Playbills are handled no more or less than anything else a patron comes into contact with at the theatre (not to mention everything they come into contact with on their way to and from the theatre). Getting rid of them would be a drop in the bucket in terms of lessening any possible exposure to anything.
Can they do both? In that case those who wish to have the paper version can get it from the usher and those that prefer paperless can get the link someplace.
