Does anyone have any reports on Mandy's current concert tour "Diaries"?   He is playing at Proctor's in Schenectady, NY tonight.  Thinking of grabbing a ticket.

I saw him this week in Nashville.  It was enjoyable, moody and low-key. 90 minutes, no intermission. He did about 23 songs, including the encore, many of them short.  Maybe five Sondheim songs, three Randy Newman, and a variety of others.  My favorites were a fairly experimental sounding Laurie Anderson cover, "From the Air", that blended into a Rufus Wainwright song, "Going to a Town", and a cover of Lyle Lovett's "If I had a Boat". I'm going to guess that some people were disappointed it wasn't a night of popular show tunes, and while I think the set would have been more enjoyable in a cabaret style venue, I'm still glad I went.

Thanks for all the information.  I did just get a good "inexpensive" ticket.  It's always a joy to hear him sing.  I remember seeing him years ago at a solo concert/Broadway show he did - think it was at the Helen Hayes theatre.   and.....  Amazing memories of Sunday in the Park With George with him and Bernadette.

I saw it a few months ago and thought it was a really beautiful performance that is definitely worth seeing. While a lot of the songs are not show tunes, each song functions well in the context of the show and the evening is very powerful and well fleshed out. Patinkin’s charisma, energy, and voice are unmatched. I’d highly recommend seeing it.

Saw Mandy last night at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. Having read the posts I kind of knew what to expect going in. If you are looking for an uplifting experience this is not it. However, I really enjoyed this performance. The song "Mother" really hit me as my grandma recently died from Alzheimer's. I counted 6 Sondheim songs in a set of over twenty. It was nice hearing stories about Elaine Stritch as we were in her hometown. Overall, I'm glad I went.
