But it's fun to judge a show prior to knowing a single thing about it, not to mention judging a person based on what you've read. I'm not a judge and I'm not a jury - I have no idea if the allegations are real or not real. I have no idea if this will be a good or bad how - these kinds of things are not really my cup of tea, although I did enjoy Beautiful.
But part of me hopes that it's a hit - just to watch the exploding heads right here on this message board."
Didn’t you have repeated conniptions over the period details in Fosse/Verdon?

I’m hearing rumors from a few people that I know that this show has one female role (at least with spoken dialogue) and that a certain Broadway actress with two flops under her belt will be playing her. I’m not sure of the validity of this but with her track record, I’m even less excited for this show

I haven't really detected outrage in this thread; it's more like puzzlement and distaste. To my eyes, the posts critical of the production are less aggressive than this counter-reaction.
Thriller Live has run in London for over a decade, closing only because they need to refurbish the theatre, Do I agree that show or MJ should be running? Not my call. But like it or not, many of his fans are still sticking by him and like Thriller Live and Michael Jackson One, MJ will have legs on Broadway.
(Personally, I think the only show called MJ should be MJ Rodriguez' one-woman show "MJ!"

I agree. I think Michael Jackson bio musical would have been better if done ten years ago (or before that documentary came out.) Nowadays when my friends and I hear of MJ, we think of MJ Rodriguez!!!
I have no faith in the Jackson estate. They are still peddling the myth of the Jackson 5 performing happily and Berry Gordy being this amazeballs producer who made their dreams come true.
I think an interesting musical could be made using what Michael himself said about his extremely lonely childhood, where he was pushed to constantly perform and abused by his dad. How like many child stars he became hooked on uppers and downers as a kid and could never really kick the habit.
Now that would be an interesting musical. But as I said, if the Jackson estate is involved it's going to be a total whitewash.

If the earlier workshop was any indication, you’re going to find this musical interesting.

I’m assuming as Michael’s mother? It’s basically an ensemble track, but I’m happy to see Sasha Allen back on Broadway either way.
