Ill be going to New York in May and July to see some shows during work trips. In May, I am seeing My Fair Lady with Laura Benanti and Hadestown, then in July the only show as of right now is Moulin Rouge.

The shows on my wish list are:
The Cher Show
Kiss Me, Kate
Tootsie
Gary/Titus
Oklahoma

I can fit one more show in May, and maybe one or two more shows for July. I worked on two productions of Oklahoma this past summer during the anniversary year, and would love to see a new interpretation. And I am about to search the Tootsie/Chicago tryout thread to read some thoughts.

Since its a pre- and post-Tony trip, should I jump on Oklahoma and Tootsie? Im big on seeing the buzzy shows around this time, especially if theyre good and even win awards. I know Gary hasnt started, but the names alone are interesting enough.

Im also on a budget because I am going to London in a few weeks and seeing several shows including Six, Follies, Company, All About Eve, and maybe 9 to 5 and Wicked (the latter which I have never seen live).

Your picks sound stellar.

If you review the Tootsie Chicago tryout thread, I had plenty of fascination with this great show. Nearly everyone who entered the $25 lottery scored tickets. Santino Fontana gives a remarkable performance. The cast is very, very good.

Strong book, large variety of sets, solid orchestrations.

I have ideas for other shows but your wish list is stellar. If I’m reading correctly, you have potentially room for 3 more shows. I’d personally recommend Kiss Me, Kate (pure bliss, great performances, beautiful singing, great dance routines; not deep but just fun), Tootsie and Oklahoma! (haven’t seen the latter two but they’re high up on my wish list).

Personally I’d recommend the Cher show. It’s just a fun night.
Then I’d say Oklahoma and tootsie. I can see those two also being big tony contenders

I saw THE PROM two weeks ago and it was pure fun. I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did but it was really good. I laughed a lot and enjoyed the message. We did RUSH seats and paid $40 each for two front row center tickets. Beyond happy with the show and the $80 price for our night out. To me it’s a sleeper hit and people should give it a try.

Given your knowledge of Oklahoma! I recommend going to see it on Bway. Some seats in the last row is priced at $49 which I think is the best deal given how great the sightlines are throughout that theater.

I'm not sure if Kiss Me Kate will extend or not but in case it does not, then try to see it in May.

I left The Cher Show at intermission tonight. Everyone has their own preferences. I have never left a show before, but it was awful IMHO.

I have not seen the others. Seeing KMK tmro and some of the others on your list when I return in May.

I agree about The Prom. I could relate bc I’m a lesbian, so for me it was that much more special. That being said, everyone should see it for the fun, laughter, and most importantly the message!
