Hey guys, does anyone know if Disney has some plans with the new version of Pinocchio they’re doing in london at the moment? It looks rather interesting..

Uh? Currently, Disney has no version of Pinocchio in performance. The one you may be referring to in London, is not produced by Disney directly. Though elements I heard used were with copyright permission. Please do your research on the production before making assumptions.

Or you could just offer the info without the lesson.  Maybe.   Why would the op have researched something he assumed to be true - just to ask a question?

And if elements of the Disney version were used onstage, I could see why the poster would assume Disney had something to do with it.

Please do your research on the production before making assumptions.

From the National Theatre website: "Pinocchio by Dennis Kelly, with songs and score from the Walt Disney film by Leigh Harline, Ned Washington & Paul J Smith, adapted by Martin Lowe" and "Pinocchio is presented by special arrangement with Disney Theatrical Productions." 

Please remove the stick from your butt before phrasing a response like a smug teen prefect of a 19th century British private school when it's clearly not necessary.

..and clearly, even though it's a National production, Disney would have final say over future transfer plans.

You are so right..I stand corrected. Since Disney gave them permission, doesn't mean it's a "Disney Theatrical Production" like the poster said. The poster asked if they were doing anything with "their" production, as it assumes it's a Disney Theatrical production. The production is NOT Disney's Pinocchio.

All what I was saying was don't assume it was Disney that is producing it when they are fully not. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Simple pronoun trouble. Unclear if OP use of "they"re" referenced Disney or generic "they" as in whomever is producing Pinocchio..

Wow, never intended to start a fight here. Didnt know people would get so upset and offensed about something like this. Just wanted to know if there’s any future for this particular production.. and as you may have discovered, my first language isn’t english so please excuse me for using some wrong words in my sentences. While we’re talking about making assumptions about things.

But are there plans for it?  Being it's playing in the Lyttelton, it should be easier to transfer to NY than something playing at the Oliver.

According to Theatre Boards in UK, all future plans, including a potential Broadway run, have been scrapped. I hope this is not true bc I think this has so much potential

Ah, that’s too bad.. Do you know anything about the production? I live in the netherlands, and am debating a little trip to see it. But I don’t know if it will be worth it. Does it feel like a professional production?

It's a National Theatre production. Why wouldn't it feel like a professional production?

Oh please don’t get me wrong. I think I mean more in the lines of is it more blockbuster or indie style show. Because I’ve never seen anything at a national theatre so I’m not as educated in that as west end or broadway shows. I understand it sounds really stupid

Drew, don't be so hard on yourself.    You don't sound stupid, just a strange choice of words.   I can't vouche for the production you are asking about (most of us on this board are Americans)   If it sounds like something you think you'd like - go for it and hope for the best!

I would love to see this production, the puppets are played by actors and the adults are played by puppets.  There is a story in the New York Times about it and you can google pictures of it also, The Actor playing Pinocchio looks a little like Andy Mientus.

A beautiful production that needs some fine tuning. The giant puppets and large cast were very impressive. After 25 nights in London with 35 shows seen, I have to say this show was special. Seeing it from the second row for 15 £ made it a true bargain. See it if you can because the National theatre spent a lot producing this spectacle.
