Saw it tonight. In general, I loved it. I am the perfect demo since I was in my prime teen angst years when JLP came out lol. Even though I loved the show as a whole and I would love to go back with a crew of former 90s teenagers to give each other knowing winks the whole time, I can acknowledge some faults.
My first reaction was to compare the show to the original Spring Awakening. When SA came out and they released the video for Bitch of Living, everybody lost their mind over it. However, as much as I loved SA, the rest of the show did not match the energy of Bitch of Living. Same thing for Jagged little Pill and You Oughta Know. You wait for it the whole show and it does not disappoint. But, no other number comes near You oughta Know.
It also reminded me of Rent because it is SO current. Rent quickly became a period piece and this show will not be as relevant as it is now very soon, especially with our culture’s outrage cycle continually needing fresh subject matter.
That said, I definitely felt strongly for the characters and I cared about them. I would say that Diablo Cody’s writing kept it from getting into After School Special territory. The second the dialogue started to veer into schmaltz, a biting joke or dry remark swiftly rescued it.

I saw the show again yesterday. I have yet to see a full cast. Kei Tsuruharatani was out and both swings covered him. Kelsey Orem was in one seen during Ironic where Kei says all of Frankie's stuff isn't ironic and Yeman Brown did all the other scenes but the monk when Kei gives Frankie the bracelet after her phone call with Phoenix. That was cut. Guess it wouldn't look right without an Asian man in that role.

I saw Celia this time. She is very different from Nora as Frankie in looks, size and how she portrays her. Both are great though.

Lauren Patten stole the show again and got a long standing ovation after You Oughta Know.

The show is definitely tighter now that they all have been working together for like 5 weeks.

The first time around there were a few internal consistency issues that really bugged me -- this time I didn't hear any glaring ones. There's a chance I was a better listener and nothing changed though."

Only thing I noticed between 4 weeks ago and last night were a few words Celia said different from Nora.

I also swear that Sean Montgomery was the doctor for MJs overdose 4 weeks ago and last night it was Max Kumangai. Maybe I'm making that up though.

Seems the show is completely sold out for the entire run.  What are the chances they extend this for a couple of weeks?  It doesn't seem like they have anything booked to immediately follow it.

Unlikely, but it looks like they are doing everything they can to add seats.  A bunch of single seats have been added to specific dates.  These are moveable chairs they've added to the far left and right sides.  For anyone who don't already have a ticket, this might be the last chance to snag one.

Will this only arrive on Broadway next year?

Only?

I believe the plan is for a spring opening.

Those chairs have always been there. I'm in one and I bought my ticket a month ago.

Also if anyone wanted to know "Standing room tickets will not be sold on July 15."

My Moulin Rouge matinee was canceled and I was planning on doing SRO for the matinee. Looks like I'll have a good 6hrs to kill time and explore Boston instead.

Used to be three row of two chairs on each side.  They added an extra chair to each row to make three rows of three chairs on each side.  The only seats available are the extra chairs they’ve added to each row.

Ahhh thank you. Now I'll have to crawl over 2 people to get out of my seat instead of 1...lol.

Has anyone done standing room? If so, I'm under five feet... would that be a problem if I did standing room?

I saw the show Friday and I agree with everything said previously. The book needs some work, there were too many branches from the main story. I also was confused on who the main character was, obviously MJ, but for a while in act 1 Frankie would not leave the stage. Kathryn Gallagher was a stand-out for me, especially in her Act 2 song ‘Predator’. I wish they added more to her character in Act 1. We hear a lot about Bella’s (Her character) reputation but we never get to see what she is thinking. I am trying to find time to get standing room this week!

Oh, another thing that I loved were the dance doubles for MJ and Bella in their Act 2 songs, beautiful!

Anyone know what the SRO line is like? I'm hoping to try this week!

Update, in case anyone’s trying to get SRO for the rest of the run, I got there at 10:30 and was third in line! By noon, there were about 15-20 people in line for 12 SRO tickets.

For SRO - I was there Wednesday, arrived around 10:20 and was sixth in line (a group of five people had been there since just before 10).  By noon there were 15ish people waiting but they only had 11 SRO spots for the matinee and 8 for the evening. They did have a few full price tickets become available for both the matinee (three tickets) and the evening (one ticket) that they made available to everyone in the SRO line before they were going to put them up for sale online.  View is still excellent from SRO section as it's not a huge theater, and you can fully appreciate the beautiful choreography, particularly those two "shadow/mirror" scenes. There is a railing to lean on.

Hands down THE best production I've ever seen at ART - and that says a lot considering I enjoyed WAITRESS, FINDING NEVERLAND, PIPPIN, WITNESS UGANDA and to a lesser extent PORGY & BESS (not my jam music wise)

This show is vital, important, cathartic and contains some of the best performances I've ever witnessed.  Elizabeth Stanley is outstanding as is Lauren Patton - who brings the house down.  The direction is flawless and once it moves to Broadway I can't wait to see what they do with the set - I'd imagine they'll toss in a few more dollars for it

I see this becoming a huge commercial success - filling the void for a generation raised on DEAR EVAN HANSEN, RENT, NEXT TO NORMAL.

Not a dry eye in the house - and yes - I loved the album when it came out while I was in college.

You Outta Know

I think the show is sold out for its run - but this is something special.

I disagree.  The version of Finding Neverland at ART with Jeremy Jordan was vastly superior to mess that eventually arrived on Broadway.  Just because you disagree with someone’s opinion doesn’t mean they should be disregarded.  People are allowed to have opinions.

Of course people are allowed to have opinions, but it doesn't mean they are correct. Finding Neverland, similar to Jagged Little Pill, had one moment that was pure theatre magic.  Other than that, it was a complete waste of time.

I never saw Finding Neverland there or on Broadway. I LOVED the tour though.

Who are you to judge anyone on what they like or don't like.

I loved FN at the ART as well, and was disappointed in it on bway.

I did not care for Jagged Little Pill very much at all.

One has nothing to do with the other.
