I already have tickets to Hamilton, She Loves Me, Waitress and Daddy Long Legs.  Thinking I need some plays now since these are all musicals!  Reading the threads here, it sounds like The Humans might be a good choice.  And if I want another musical, Dear Evan Hansen?

Last year for my three-day weekend trip, I waited until the Tony nominations were announced, then bought a ticket to On the 20th Century before I left home.  I got the rest of my tickets once I arrived in NY...Curious Incident, It's Only a Play, and Fun Home.  I loved the spontaneity of it all!  This year, with Hamilton tickets being so hard to find, I started planning early.  I am sort of missing the last minute fun, but I also don't want to miss out on must-see limited engagements!

So I can either buy two more tickets before I go, or be spontaneous for my last two shows!  Any suggestions?  I only need single tickets, so maybe it's just as easy to show up?  I have another trip coming up in October in case I miss something that will still be playing then.  Thanks in advance for any tips!

I loved Dear Evan Hansen enough (after going into it blindly based on a few early posts, glad I did) to see it several times in DC and recommend it since it's on your radar.

I have not seen Dear Evan Hansen yet, but I am really looking forward to it.  I think that would be a great choice for your already excellent line up.  In fact, I just got an email today for 25% off Dear Evan Hansen tickets through broadwaybox.  No need to wait til the last minute to get tickets for that one.

I will be visiting in May as well, and the play I am most looking forward to is Streetcar Named Desire at St. Ann's Warehouse.  Think about that one too!

If you were interested in plays, I would say The Humans or Blackbird.

I would say go spontaneous with the last show. It's usually nice having some last minute fun.

I would keep an eye on the buzz around Shuffle Along. Also, consider Robber Bridegroom.

If you haven't seen Matilda, I highly recommend it.

I recommend the Fiddler revival if you haven't been to the show in a few years. Really poignant with the world today and well done. Danny may be a spoiler for the Hamilton team at the Tony Awards too.

The Color Purple shouldn't be missed at any cost. I hope you consider adding it your (really good) list.

I'd personally stay away from Fiddler and Blackbird based on my poor experience with both. I have seen better non-equity productions of Fiddler (which is saying something) and Blackbird is an... acquired taste. I saw it during previews and while the performances are outstanding, Michelle Williams was so immersed in the character that it felt almost detached. Color Purple definitely has far superior performances.

I'm very curious about The Humans and would recommend it.

If you're looking for a play, I would highly recommend The Humans or Eclipsed. Both are great new plays with excellent performances all around. I personally like being a little spontaneous with theater when I'm traveling (when I went to London in June we planned a lot of things ahead, but my favorite overall experience was seeing Communicating Doors at the Menier which was a last minute decision and our second to last show of the trip and it was delightful), so maybe leave one slot open and go to TKTS or rush for something once you're here, especially since you'll be returning in a few months.

Thanks for the replies!  I definitely feel inclined to leave a slot open for spontaneity.  I don't think I would have even bought all of these tickets in advance if it wasn't for buying the Hamilton ticket last year.  It just kind of made me plan farther ahead, and I think I am spending more money because the only discounted ticket I bought so far was for Daddy Long Legs!  I did see the Dear Evan Hansen promo code today, so that is very tempting if I am going to see another musical.

Robber Bridegroom only plays through end of May -- I'd definitely consider adding that to your trip!  It's the most fun I've had at the theatre in a long time!

Any chance you can post the code?

Google "BroadwayBox Dear Evan Hansen" and it's literally the first link.

Thanks! I honestly googled it but did not click that first link because it looked like an ad.

Also, I'm high.
