New BOMBSHELL concert details:
*Throughout its two-seasons run, there were 22 original songs and choreographed musical numbers for “Bombshell” presented. While not all of them made the final cut on televison, all 22 will make it to the stage.
*The event is expected to feature cast members from “Smash” reprising their performances, including the drama’s original Marilyn Monroe, Megan Hilty.
*Emmy award-winning “Smash” choreographer is on board to bring back and finalize the choreography seen on the show, while “Smash” creator Theresa Rebeck is the playwright. Marc Shaiman wrote the music and co-wrote the lyrics with Scott Wittman. “Bombshell” is produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

At least the show has some sort of outline based on the liner notes in the "complete cast recording." Would LOVE to see "Let's Be Bad" live! If they're including choreography and such, this ain't a regular concert that I thought; it originally sounded like JUST the songs and some story/dialogue, ala "Hit List" at 54 Below. With Zadan/Meron producing, this is gonna be full-out!! (Or at least to some extent. 
)

I believe it's on Season Two, Episode Eleven.
SPOILERS
During a performance of BOMBSHELL during the "Our Little Secret" number with JFK, he accidentally removes Ivy's slip along with her dress, exposing Ivy's naked body. Next thing you know, the audience thinks it was something added in during previews and Eileen and Tom ask Ivy if she's willing to keep that in the show.

It ended up giving the show some publicity and word-of-mouth and was all over the "message boards" that was drawing in tons of ticket sales. But they asked her and at the end of the episode you find out whether she says "yes" or "no."

That was the plot point- the scene was Marilyn dropping her dress before JFK in a calculated seduction she hates herself for. It was supposed to be with lingerie underneath, but the unexpected nudity made Marilyn all the more enticing and vulnerable at once.
It enhances the scene but it wasn't in her contract. So they let Ivy decide for herself to bare it all or just wear lingerie as written.

Posted: 1/14/15 at 1:04amI'm very excited that Katharine McPhee will be included in the concert. I think she is a wonderful performer with a fantastic voice and like it or not, just as much apart of SMASH as Hilty. And while I don't deny that Megan is obviously better suited for the part of Marilyn, it's just a concert, not a full production. They're a few numbers in BOMBSHELL in which I actually prefer McPhee's vocals (20th Century Fox Mambo, Don't Forget Me, etc).

I'm very excited! I was hoping it would just be Megan Hilty playing Marilyn Monroe, but I understand why not...the way Bombshell is structured (at least according to the show/soundtrack), it's one big, powerhouse song and dance number after another which could be very taxing. I hope that Megan Hilty keeps all of her songs---she had the best (National Pastime, Let's Be Bad, Dig Deep, They Just Keep Moving the Line).
I imagine "Don't Forget Me" and "Let Me Be Your Star" will be duets.
I'm curious as to who Messing and Huston will play. I'm very excited, and I hope that it's filmed!

Posted: 1/16/15 at 11:59amI suspect that based on the outline of the show presented in the cast recording, Huston will likely be playing the mother, and perhaps Debra Messing will be narrator, filling the same position Andy Mientus took in the Hit List concert (the fictitious book writer/narrator).

At the Hit List concert, there was some reference to everyone being able to film it since we have as much right to record it as they did to perform it, so I'm guessing they can get away with some one-off concerts, especially for a benefit, but if they went further than that, they might have some legal issues with NBC.
