This looks like a great cast! When I saw the headline I thought Ramin would be Leo, but it looks like they haven't announced a Leo yet.

I adore Ramin Karimloo....but he's not right at all for Leo.

I'm also wondering just how big the ensemble will actually be and if they're using a full orchestra or not.

Please don't mess it up by casting Christian Borle as Leo.

Joshua Henry too! Amazing!

Has anyone seen Katie Rose Clarke in stuff other than Light in the Piazza? She was not good in that. Is she good in other things?

No Leo Frank casting yet. And if history repeats itself, it will be a full orchestra with a large ensemble of voices (many students). I loved Ragtime and Titanic and can't wait to see this!

I am absolutely thrilled with this cast. Does anyone think there is potential for a cast recording and/or a Lincoln Center PBS broadcast? I sadly won't get to see it live.

I think that this particular company that produces these concerts does NOT do TV broadcasts.

Wow, what a phenomenal cast. Any chance they might add more performances to this or does that not usually happen with these concerts? I am coming to NYC a few days after this.

If the last two MCP concerts are any indication, it's one night only and won't be recorded.

According to a Facebook post from JRB a few months ago, it will be the original orchestrations, augmented for the concert! (Though if I recall the post, he said they were using some of the changes made for the London production).

By the way: What are the changes between the Bway version and the Donmar version (aside from the new, smaller orchestration)?

If I recall, Bertie Carvel said that his favorite role was playing Leo in the Donmar production of Parade. I have the recording of that, and he was fantastic.

Would definitely travel to see that.

Let's hope they get the Southern accents right.

"Two new songs: "Hammer of Justice" for Watson, which replaces Fiddlin' John's "People of Atlanta""

I know that Hammer of Justice works better dramatically but People of Atlanta was the first song I learned from the show so my heart still kind of aches knowing it's gone.

I can't imagine they'll bother for a one night only concert that isn't being recorded?

haterobics, you're probably right as they didn't bother for the original production or the London production.

I strongly prefer "Letter to the Governor" over "The Glory".

In response to an earlier post, I also assumed Karimloo would be Leo from the headline. Leo is a New York Jew, so ethnicity actually would be an issue here, making him not really right for the role. That said, it is a concert production (they had Lea Salonga as Mother in Ragtime last year after all), and he is much more suited for Leo than for Tom Watson. They probably offered him Leo and he was like, "I can't take that on while I'm doing Les Miz, but I can do a smaller role," and they were like, "Sure, uh...I guess you can play Tom Watson?" Bet you five dollars.

I heard from someone I consider reliable that they were pursuing Bertie Carvel. I wonder if that's fallen through, or if they're still working out the deal.

You don't think Karimloo could pass for Jewish?

I don't ethnicity would be a problem for Ramin at all. I know he might identify as a person of color, but he doesn't really look it. He could easily pass for a white Jew.
