I didn't get the rush seats but I know that Broadway in Boston announced rush. I think they were either $26 or $40 but I'm not sure. I'd check their FB page to look. I think I saw it in the comments section.
I saw this tour last May, and there was flying. Is this a new tour? I know the tour I saw was non-eq...unless it is venue specific, Im curious as to why the flying is gone. What do they do instead?
Yea as far as I know this is a brand new cast that started in the fall or late summer so they probably changed a few things. And it's definitely not venue specific because the Boston Opera House is huge and hosts shows like Wicked so flying is not a problem there.
They cut the flying??!! (or what were they initially calling it - the "aerial ballet"?). I guess I should be happy the show is still being performed and accept that they had to cut costs to do it. But I can't really imagine the show without those stunts.
I saw it on Broadway, then the Equity Tour, then the non-Equity tour (previous cast - I guess they changed the staging when they changed the cast over), and it sounds like the staging is getting simpler and more basic with each incarnation. On Broadway there was half a car hanging from the ceiling. The Equity tour and first half of the Non-Equity cut the ensemble by 2 actors, got rid of the car, but kept the aerials (the same actress that played Extraordinary girl also started the show being lowered from the ceiling, hanging upside down, and then out of nowhere starts head-banging upside down, then slowly got lowered to the stage). I'm seeing it again in a month, and I guess it's good that I had a warning that it was cut but I'm really going to miss that part.
I saw the Saturday matinee in Boston (Goldstar, $50 center/center Mezz row G). Mezzanine (which is huge) was maybe half full. We had also seen the original cast in NYC, and thought this paled in comparison. No energy, especially among the male leads. Females were better, but they don't drive the show.
At least the sound mix was pretty good, we've had some dreadful sound issues in the Mezzanine there.
