Today is the day that Telecharge announces the rewards - contests and prizes - associated with their Broadway Boosters program. I am looking forward to seeing what they're offering.
Broadway Boosters has just announced some cool new ways to rack up points. First it was Once and now its Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Show up at their theaters and check in on foursquare and you get 100 points!
foursquare is no worse than most of the others with facebook being the granddaddy of data mining. If you are already a member of facebook, I won't worry about foursquare. If you're not on facebook, good for you.
Actually, I wish to correct that... the granddaddy of data mining is your banking services. If you are using a service like Chase or Citibank, you're privacy is long gone. Although these banks are currently not selling most of your data, they have been storing it and they are beginning to realize the value of what they have.
You will soon see rewards programs at the ATM. Your bank knows where you purchased your latte in the neighborhood and if you're a good customer, you're going to be offered complimentary coupons as a means for cementing your loyalty. Honest. I actually worked on this very technology. Its coming very soon.

Well, you're not completely wrong. foursquare is about physical check ins. There are settings which allow you to determine how much of your current position is made public, but without privacy settings you can find your location being broadcasted. So, I don't think you're mistaken.
I just think the BroadwayBoosters program might be fun for members here. I do understand not wanting to join though.

I don't mind racking up points and redeeming them for something, eventually. But I don't want to have to compete with others for a prize. That's the way it works, right? You can do a lot of work and bother your friends for nothing. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
"Full disclosure: Do you work for Broadway Boosters?"
PalJoey, if you click on the link above, it is a recruitment link. You can see the campaign name in the URL. I am assuming when you join, an individual recruitment link is generated for you, so when people click on it and join whatever program, the owner of the link gets a reward.
So basically Artc3 (your competition, if you join) is getting points when anyone here clicks on the link and joins the program. Maybe you don't work for Broadway Boosters, but it's obvious you are here to recruit people. Why can't this all be contained in one thread? So to answer your question, Artc3, yes it is obvious you are playing when you start spamming the boards with the same messages.
Also, from your previous thread (didn't want to bump):
"It seems that the Broadway Booster program has made it to the BroadwayWorld headlines. Cool. I am not much for social media, but I think its great that Broadway is getting some social media attention."
Broadway has been using social media for awhile now. This isn't anything new. Audience Rewards has a similar points program, and one of the ways you could earn points is by sharing status updates for different shows. I don't think you received points though for getting people to click on the actual link and join the program.
"We like to snark around here. Sometimes we actually talk about theater...but we try not to let that get in our way." - dramamama611
^Actually, it looks like you get 100 points if someone clicks through your unique link and joins the program. If these are the prizes for the first two weeks, I'm excited to see what they have next month.
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
Not just 100 points. I was actually also credited for the click through. The site works that way. millie_dillmount, I'm not sure why this upsets you so, I was always honest. In fact, the first thread, which you rightly reported was deleted, was about just that. Several of the posts stated as much, and when I was asked, I was clear that I was playing. I have never tried to take advantage of anyone here. I'm sorry, if you feel like I did. Other posters commented that they appreciated my bringing BroadwayBoosters to the attention of this board (I did so, before the short-lived article).
It is my hope that many people here will play and win prizes. If you've read the rules, you'd see that I am ineligible to win more than one month in a row. It seem that I have a great shot at winning this first month, based on my efforts. Trust me when I write that all my posts, here and on the various social media sites was a lot of work. And, at first - for weeks - I didn't know what the prize would be, or if it would be worth it. I just wanted to support a Broadway social media game. Its that simple. Nothing sinister.
