Rose Byrne is talks to join the cast of Sony’s remake of “Annie,” playing Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks’ assistant Grace.
Sources close to Byrne say the talks are early on in the process but that both sides have begun discussions for Byrne to join the film. Pic currently stars Quvenzhane Wallis, Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, with Will Gluck directing.
Based on the Broadway musical, pic will be set in modern times and follow the adventures of little orphan Annie as she tries to find a family to call her own.
James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith will produce through Overbrook Entertainment, along with Jay Z and Tyran Smith through Marcy Media.
Byrne is also in consideration for a role in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” but sources say the budget was cut on the film and it may have been hard to finalize a deal if an offer was presented to Byrne.
The CAA and RGM Artists-repped Byrne was most recently seen in Fox’s “The Internship.”
The entire time I was watching the revival, I kept having to remind myself that Brynn O'Malley was not Rose Byrne, even though she looked just like her. I'm all for this!
I would actually love to see her in this. The only other film I have seen her in was INSIDIOUS and I thought she played the Mother wonderfully. This is a part right up her Alley.
