Aaaand as usual, these nominations (and some glaring omissions) mostly amount to a giant "...what?" This list isn't as bizarre as it has been in recent years, though. Updated On: 4/22/13 at 11:30 AM

It's a shame that "The Other Place" was considered and nominated last season when it was produced Off Broadway.
Laurie Metcalf was incredible.
"For example, if I should paint my fingernails green -
and it just so happens I do paint them green. Well, if anyone should ask me why, I say: 'I think it's pretty!'"
bjh2114, Macbeth isn't a solo performance, there are 2 other actors in the play.
"For example, if I should paint my fingernails green -
and it just so happens I do paint them green. Well, if anyone should ask me why, I say: 'I think it's pretty!'"
The Other Place was eligible last season when it was off-Broadway.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Ahahahahahahaha. Oh, OCC. You are delightfully daft. Yes, let us recognize the acting, direction, and score of the virtually unwatchable Chaplin while choosing to lay the smack down on Matilda and nominate it for as few awards as possible.
Leaving Matilda out of Score and Direction are the most ridiculous omissions. But while we're at it: Charlotte D'Amboise for Pippin? Alex Timbers for Here Lies Love? The book of Chaplin? The COSTUMES in Chaplin?! No Disgraced for Off-Broadway Play but Really Really gets in? Valisia LeKae's wooden acting in Motown?
These are truly embarrassing nominations. As per usual.
I'm surprised Judith Ivey got a nod while Carrie Coon did not for her incredible performance in Virginia Woolf.

I completely agree that Alan Cumming was snubbed. The whole show was snubbed! He should get some recognition for that performance.
"For example, if I should paint my fingernails green -
and it just so happens I do paint them green. Well, if anyone should ask me why, I say: 'I think it's pretty!'"
Most thrilled about the HARDBODY love! Also happy about all the PIPPIN and DOGFIGHT noms. I think DOGFIGHT should have made the transfer to Broadway...or at least another Off-Broadway theatre.
It seems kind of silly that Cumming wasn't nominated for solo performance since those other two people barely do anything.
Agreed that Rachel Bay Jones was about one million times better than Charlotte. Since she had to play, ya know, emotions.
"Pardon my prior Mcfee slip. I know how to spell her name. I just don't know how to type it." -Talulah
Cinderella is nominated for that insufferable book? What?! That alone disqualifies this whole list for me. I guess I am happy Pippin is leading though!
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
