Great 1st act! It's in good shape and will only get better! Sound is off, but that's to be expected this early on.

It's probably the most dancing I have ever seen in a production of Pippin. Cast are all great, but damn that Andrea Martin!!!! She just stopped the show with a standing O. I won't give it away, but WOW! She worked it out.

The only way I can describe it is Barnum meets Pippin and its WONDERFUL!

Intermission has been LONG! Over 30 min

What exactly is Pippin about and has it always been circus themed?

No, it hasn't.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The original production was more commedia del'arte than anything else.

I don't know if this is relevant, but the leading player is also very similar to the emcee in Cabaret.

Jordan, he could, but I don't think he'd be as spectacular as he would be as the actual emcee...

No. On either account.

Just no.

Any chance they'll just forgo a costume for Matthew in the Broadway version?

I just remembered I saw the original with Ben Vereen and John Rubinstein. Loved it.

PIPPIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm restraining from typing all my thoughts in all caps, but I really do feel like shouting this from my rooftop for all of 9th Ave to hear: GO SEE PIPPIN!!! (If you can still buy a ticket.)

People often ask on this site why we are critical of so many shows, yet keep coming back for more. A big part of the answer is to experience something like what happened tonight at The Music Box. Pippin is joy. Pure joy.

Let me start with the two big changes from Boston. Extraordinary is now extra, extra special. Paulus, the brilliant woman that she is, has turned it into a production number (I won't spoil how) and it plays like gangbusters. What once passed by quickly now threatens to stop the show.

The finale has also been reconceived. The feat that Pippin is asked to perform is much more exciting and daring. (The hoop with the fire was a tad lame in Boston.)

Rachel Bay Jones has a new dress too.

Ok, so after seeing it in Boston I thought there was no way to make it better, but Paulus makes me eat even those words of praise.

And this cast. I know so much has already been said, but I loved each and every one of them. Matthew James Thomas, who I thought was missing a slight something before, upped his game and had me rooting for him much more vigorously than I was before. The supporting cast no longer shine a little bit brighter, but shine equally with him.

Patina, that wicked woman, may have just sucker punched the dreams of 4 little seven year old girls tonight. She is sleek, menacing, sexy and above all magical. Every gay molecule in my body worships her (and wants to be her).

Andrea Martin- well what's there to say. As someone mentioned she received a full standing ovation for "No Time At All." I hope no one spoils what happens during that number, but it's a full 5 minutes of Broadway razzle dazzle.

Rachel Bay Jones is winning as Catherine, and if you think that role is boring and throwaway you will be shocked at what she does with it. You can completely see why she is able to compete in Pippin's heart with all the circus goings on of act one.

Charlotte and Terrance have both tweaked their performances wringing laughs and fun out of every line.

I don't know how then ensemble will do two show days. They are working so hard and making it look so easy.

I apologize for unabashedly gushing, but I unabashedly loved it. I can't recommend this strongly enough, but please don't buy any tickets until I've had a chance to go back to the box office tomorrow morning and by a few more sets of tickets for myself.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Just back. This is gonna be a big fat hit. It hit everything it needed to with pizzazz and pure theatricality.

It was a very long intermission and they had the heat on full blast. It made for a very uncomfortable 2nd act., but the show just made me smile from ear to ear. I've never been a fan of Pippin, but I wanted to see if the revival would change my mind. It did! Just the pure theatrically of it all was brilliant. Having seen Annie, Cinderella, and J&H, this is hands down leaps and bounds better than any of them.

Lots of tricks and ariel stunts. The orchestrations felt updated, but still retained the "sound" of the original.

I will type more about the cast later. I'm currently on my phone. Go see this show and you will leave with a huge smile on your face! Great production.

Ha, Jordan. Well I might be tempting fate a little bit, but this is SO good that I think even After Eight will like it.

This production of Pippin is like ice cream or pizza or even Schmackary's cookies. Who doesn't like ice cream or pizza or especially Schmackary's?!?!

I'll defientely see it if it's on tour or if it's still there next year! It does look incredible! By the way: Is the show anyway sexual or violent?

"Every gay molecule in my body worships her (and wants to be her)."

I have never agreed with a sentence more. She's remarkable (as is the entire cast).

It's not violent, but it is sexual in spots. "With You" has a very sexual dance sequence following it, not to mention Patina is SO hot (who knew under that habit?) that anytime she's onstage the sexual energy crackles.

1.) have they added more swings? 2.) do you have an understudy list??

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
