Someone was talking about this tonight and I have never heard of it. I did a search here and I only found a thread mentioning it in passing. Has anyone seen it?
Sorry, Dame, I'm just stupified you haven't heard of this, it's been discussed to death here and had been around for 2 years or so!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
DAME - the less you read about it, the better. The mystery is key. Just go, and wear your most comfortable sneakers. For me, it was the most thrilling theatrical experience of my life. I can't wait to go again.
Brooke just summed it up. If you're curious, GO! If you're not curious...go anyway. It's the most amazing theatrical experience. I would also recommend going ALONE.
Thanks for the info guys. Will plan on going. Any discounts for this available anywhere?
@dramamama611 Sorry you were stupified that I had not heard of it or read the previous posts. I did not know what it was so I probably did not pay any attention to it.
There are no discounts, but it's cheapest to go on a weeknight...I've been 3 times on a Monday or a Tuesday and it's $80 if you do that, versus $90 or $100 for later in the week or a weekend. It is pricy but completely worth it (and I say that as a poor college student who has saved her pennies and gone once a year since they opened). Just wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be open to the experience, and don't fret too much about doing it "right," as it were...going with what intrigues me has made for some of the most interesting moments when I've gone.
Dame -- I meant no ill reflection on you, I was just suprised as you are usually "up" on these things!
(However, I am part of the group that really didn't enjoy this show -- and I desperately wanted to. I know I am in a vast minority.)

tickets are currently only through march 31st. anyone know if there is a chance that this could get extended? would love to see this when i come in april!
Dramama; I am so afraid I will fall into that same group. I HATED Tamara years ago and it sounds very similar. But so many people have loved it so much that I am hoping to be surprised. There is nothing else playing in NY that has my interest.
It is rather similar to Tamara in concept, DAME, but is better in execution. I would absolutely give it a try though. Go in uninformed, open-minded, and preferably alone. Move around as your spirit takes you. Don't feel the need to stick with the crowd. Explore. Since you're already thus inclined, 420 might not be a bad idea pre-show.
Thanks GL. Unfortunately I lost my NY 420 connection. I will definitely be checking it out. Going to wait to get tickets closer to my trip in Feb. I usually walk a lot while in the city and want to try to see it on a day that my feet aren't to worn out.
"I usually walk a lot while in the city and want to try to see it on a day that my feet aren't to worn out."
Very wise. You will be on your feet the entire time, and there will be times that you will want to follow the action, which will move very quickly, and there are LOTS of stairs involved.
I'll be very interested to hear what you think afterwards.
If you're in town on a Monday this is the absolutely top choice for that relatively dead night. And book the earliest slot your night allows-- you'll want the full 3 hours to take it all in.
After 365 shows in the city Sleep no more was my favorite theatrical experience. I was enthralled throughout, and the only production better was my second visit! Unbelievable all that takes place...pure heaven. I actually raved about it in my memoir, published in dec 2012.
Purchased my ticket for a Monday. Question... Is it a full service bar? And are they expensive rip off drinks? Also.. My ticket is for 715.. If I come early will they let me in with the first group?
Only thing I will say is that you want to be in the ballroom at the end of the evening. I decided to buck the trend and be my own person...and I missed the end of the show. I still kick myself over it. Updated On: 1/28/13 at 04:09 PM
I finally booked a ticket for February. Super excited to finally see this!
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
I am hoping patience is on my side when I go. I am one of those people that will zip thru a museum in one hour while others say they could be there all day. As I previously mentioned ., I hated Tamara and was over it about one hour into it .
