Well yeah, I DO realize that it had a slight bump, but they're way down below their nut... Saveusmike got what I meant- they're not doing nearly as well as they should be. On the other hand, this was a rather positive week for some shows, as this is supposed to be the slowest week in September.
the only shows with scary numbers are Poppins, Shrek & In The Heights. hang in there!!
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
On Wednesday night, the mezz at Hamlet was barely half full. THe last three rows, which are $26.50, were completely full, of course.
Also, the fact that n2n's percentage went up slightly is irrelevant. Their gross, which is the important number, went down. Still above the reported nut, but down nonetheless.
On the whole, they are about the same, but there are fewer shows heading into September this year, so some of the weaker shows have already been weeded out. The powerhouses like Wicked, BE, JB, etc are hardly effected at all, you see moderate drops in the shows like ROA, Chicago, and then some other shows (especially the kiddie ones) are getting killed. If 9-5 hadn't closed, it would be getting killed as well.
I'm not sur how Shrek in gonna last without Dreamworks or whoever putting up major buck to keep them afloat. They have to be losing #350-$400K a week right now.
I think word of mouth is getting out. I saw at least ten people sleeping during the show the other night. And it was a Saturday evening, with the mezzanine about 60% full. Updated On: 9/21/09 at 04:40 PM
I appreciate that After Miss Julie only had 5 shows this week but this is the first time I've seen a show in the 5-digit range for their gross. A very large portion of the tickets sold for this show this weekend were priced at $10, because of the ACCESS10 program.
WSS also took a tumble. Uhh, no it didn't. It went up in gross, % capacity, and total attendance. How did it take a tumble?
