^ I was just thinking about this, ACL. Frozen is definitely not a sure thing. If the show sucks, it won't have legs. Doesn't matter what title it is.

Goodness, I hope Let It Go isn't the act one ending. The act one ending should be For The First Time In Forever (Reprise), as that's really the climax of the movie. It's a natural act break.

If it ends up going into a Nederlander then it will probably premiere in Chicago.

Denver is officially locked in. Expect the announcement to coincide with DCPA's announcements for the upcoming season.

One way to do that would be amazing  would be to present the musical in a theatre made of ice.  There is already ice hotel in nordique country and it was the inspiration of Elsa's castle. Imagine the light design. But it probably impossible (actor's voices, instruments) or really expansive.

Maybe I do not speak English as well as you, but I can perfectly pronounce the names of all characters of Les Misérables.

A theatre is already chosen. It's not a Nederlander Theatre. More to come...

The prospects of musicals of Frozen & Spongebob

Yawn. The theater gods are turning over in their graves right about now.

No they aren't. Spongebob could turn out really good and while I don't care for Frozen, many people said the theatre gods were turning over in their graves when Beauty and the beast was announced for broadway, and that was a beautiful show. Same with Lion King and Poppins.

Considering no one has seen the stage version, you can't speak to the quality of the book. As for the score, I'd expect about 10 more songs to be written so let's wait and see (although I agree that a few from the movie are kind of mediocre).

Not surprisingly, Laura Osnes will audition for Anna.

At least they have the original songwriting team so there isn't such obvious discrepancy between new material and old.

That being said, they're gonna need a decent amount of new score to make this a full musical. As it stands now, the unmemorable "Fixer Upper" is the last song in the score.

I would be shocked if they didn't add more songs, and a proper finale for both acts. The current score is fine but could be better with a few improvements.

I could easily see Osnes auditioning for Anna, and even potentially nabbing the role.

I thought the same about The Little Mermaid. Seemed like a guaranteed hit, but it ended up flopping badly.

Frozen has the advantage of not waiting 20 years before a Broadway production.  It's still fresh in the minds of the general public.  Beauty and the Beast opened 3 years after the film.  Same with Lion King.  Aladdin got lucky by not being so misconceived for the stage as Tarzan and Little Mermaid (nor has it had any costly injuries).  Seeing as how Frozen has become a major jewel in Disney's crown, I imagine they are going for another permanent Broadway and West End fixture as with The Lion King.  I hope they use a similar formula and pad the score with some more of the "Nordic" music, which was stunningly beautiful.

Has this been workshopped at all yet? I believe they are writing additional songs. I'm kind of hoping they can figure out a way to use "Life's Too Short" It's a great catchy song.

Haven't they already finished some new songs? I thought the Lopez's mentioned that recently?

Rumor has it that Kristen and Robert have been grooming Betsy Wolfe for Elsa while they were doing "Up Here" in La Jolla. So according to rumors, they've workshopped it with her.

Personally I wouldn't mind if they leave out those trolls all together and cut "Fixer Upper." There's also a few songs written for the film that they might be able to work back in and a lovely song called "You're You" which could easily be reworked as a duet for Anna and Kristoff.

"

The show doesn't need  Idina's star power to get launched, plus I doubt the producers have a 40-something year old Elsa who won't come cheap in mind.  I would also guess she's not ready to jump into the 8 show a week grind anytime soon, particularly while still exploring her potential new opportunities.  Wouldn't be surprised to see her show up for opening night festivities, though.  Couldn't venture an opinion about the others.

Is there any proof to suggest that Betsey was indeed being courted?
