While we are suggesting possible replacements, what about Christine Baranski? She's got the physique, humor and can sing and act and is getting close to the right age. I'd love to see her take on this part.
Baranski sounds like a great choice, but between Into the Woods and The Good Wife, she's hardly available. It seems obvious that Feldshuh is being groomed to replace Martin if and when she leaves.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Tovah was actually quite good. Saw her last night, she has a very pretty voice, it's not exceptionally strong or anything, but it served "No Time At All" very well, and she was hysterical. Though I have not seen Andrea Martin play the role and don't know if anything was changed, the stunt was very well done and the audience loved it. Billy Tighe was also on as Lewis and he was great. Excellent voice and great dancer/mover.
OK, well this contains possible SPOILERS, so if anyone hasn't seen the show, they probably shouldn't read.
The Leading Player announced Berthe's entrance in Act 1, when she's supposed to enter. She did-and the curtains at the back of the stage failed to open, and Berthe failed to appear on the first announcement. So, The Leading Player does it again (not supposed to happen), and the curtains still didn't open and Berthe still didn't come out.
Well, the third time is a charm-because Berthe emerged that time (curtains opened and she came out). But, in Act 2, when Catherine fails to enter twice (planned), the Leading Player goes "Not again". It was actually a smart cover for act 1's little boo boo.
Thinking about going to see it this weekend but am confused. Is Martin in it this weekend? Or is an understudy (I get Feldshuh's not in it this weekend, but that doesn't answer the question whether Martin is in it or not).
@bettyboy72. Please watch your words. You obviously don't know Tovah and are basically the only person on this message board putting negative energy out there. Shame on you. Love Tovah!
