The only time I saw Buckley perform was in 1996 as "Norma Desmond" , as well on Broadway. I still can't imagine her as 'Dolly' - so I'll wait till the reviews before I decide if I will see her or not (and I really enjoy Buckley and her voice).
What's ironic is Buckley is taking the role of 'Dolly', which Bernadette Peters has played. Back in 1996, it was said that Bernadette Peters was one of the first actresses offered the role of "Norma Desmond" to replace Buckley...but Peters declined. (Can't picture Peters as Norma Desmond, but maybe ALW saw something in her?)

Plus Buckley replaced Peters in “Song & Dance.”
i saw Buckley in “Sunset” and also “Triumph of Love.” Her delivery of the final line of that show is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I, personally, can’t wait to see her take on Dolly. I feel Dolly is such a wonderfully written role you can bring many different qualities to it and still be successful in the role. A seasoned pro like Buckley should have no problems pulling it off splendidly!

Probably Ambrose
Oh that definitely makes more sense.
"
I assumed Barnaby since he understudied it on Broadway, but who knows? Hope we get a full casting announcement soon!
