President Biden just said:  "This is a sad day for the Supreme Court and for the country.  But it doesn't mean the fight is over.  Voters need to make their voices heard."

Indeed.

It's also the fault of RGB, who refused to retire when she would have been replaced by Obama. I will hate her forever.

STFU. I will NEVER have anyone disrespect the incredible, brilliant, life changing Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Nope. She was going to retire when Hillary was President.

Words like "fault" and "refuse" are always in the arsenal of the "Libertarians," always ready to use hindsight to describe the idea of human behavior with no understanding of flesh and blood individuals, which is screamingly ironic.

Of those persons on Planet Earth I might "hate forever," Ruth Bader Ginsburg is certainly not one of them.  She should be praised for her dedicated service to our country.

I'm sure if she only knew you wanted her to retire, she would have done so post-haste. Did you try to call her to tell her, write her a letter, post something on Facebook. How was she supposed to know? Can you really say you did everything humanly possible to inform her of your opinion? Maybe the fault is actually yours.

Also, I'm sure you will recall Obama had the opportunity to replace Scalia with a year left in his term and he couldn't even get Merrick Garland a confirmation hearing, who had he been confirmed would have been on the court instead of Gorsuch so I doubt a replacement for RBG would have fared much better.

But here I am actually trying to dignify your ridiculous comment. So maybe the real fault is mine.

I do regret the typo; thanks for pointing it out. I respect that you (and others) are passionate in your disagreement with what I wrote.

It wasn't up to Kdog. Many people were calling on her to retire when Obama could still replace her (because they new this would happen). She steadfastly refused. Now most of her legacy will be destroyed. That is the price to be paid for her hubris.

"She was going to retire when Hillary was president." How'd that work out babe? A person in their eighties with cancer rolled the dice and now here we are. Enjoy your Notorious RBG merch though!

What part is untrue? She accomplished many great things and was a great American, but she made a grave error.

I realized a long time ago, humor, sarcasm and facetiousness is almost completely lost on most here but did you honestly think the first part of my comment was meant as anything other than tongue in cheek?

And for the second time, I'm pretty sure if she did resign during the last 2 years of Obama's second term, her replacement would have been tied up by McConnell just as Scalia's replacement was. I attended an exhibition of her life a few years ago, Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She led a remarkable life and accomplished a tremendous amount even before she was on the court in the face of overwhelming odds against her as a woman, as a wife with a young child and as a Jew. Without question, she earned the right to leave the Court whenever she damn well pleased and her legacy will remain fully intact. Only extremely ignorant people would think otherwise.

Republicans and the MAGA crazies are going to set this country back 50+ years. Next is contraception, then same-sex marriage. then a national wide abortion band. After that, who knows... If you are Republican, I hope you're happy with the future of this country.

Today, my husband and I made an "extra" yearly contribution to the Democratic National Committee.  SCOTUS has taken away the reproductive rights of women.  Equal marriage rights for all American citizens is on their hit list.

VOTE  BLUE  !!

Obama seated two justices and could have sat three.

Without question, she earned the right to leave the Court whenever she damn well pleased

That's what her fans said in 2014 when there were calls for her to step down. She didn't listen and there were consequences to that decision.

All we can do now is vote blue in every race we can and hope for a better court in the future.

Keep in mind that while Obama did have the chance to put a third justice on the bench, Mitch Mconnel got in the way. After all, he’s the one who made up the bogus law stating that you can’t appoint a justice during an election year.

I agree.  Remembering the Spring of 2016 it seemed like Hillary was inevitable and hoping that Dump would be the nominee because anybody else would beat her but not the Dump.  I was happy to see yesterday.

Which is exactly what people said about the Trump Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade.

Make no mistake.  IT IS THAT BAD.  And complacency is what helped get us here -- the people who consistently under-estimated the danger of the Republican Party shoulder a good deal of the blame.
