Vagabond Players continues our 108th season with Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy-drama, HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, directed by Tessara Morgan Farley.
Looking back from the perspective of middle age, Li’l Bit introduces us to her handsome, seductive driving instructor, Uncle Peck, who takes her through a dark tunnel of a ride that will haunt her for the rest of her life. Vogel’s acclaimed thunderbolt of a play set in Maryland during the 1960’s and ‘70’s brings theatre back to its roots in telling a devastating story of family secrets and sexual awakening.
“With subtle humor and teasing erotic encounters, Vogel addresses the dangerous intersections of teenage temptation...The play is a potent and convincing comment on a taboo subject and its impact sneaks up on its audience.” - Variety
