Tony Award nominated actress and singer Anita Gillette will return to her hometown of Baltimore to host a workshop based on her one-woman show, After All, for a single performance on Friday, May 14, as part of the UB Spotlight performance series. Gillette's mix of songs and stories will begin at 7 p.m. in the UB Student Center Performing Arts Theater, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. It will be followed by a special Q&A and a reception.
Howard County Arts Council Hosts 13th Annual Celebration, 4/24

On Saturday, April 24, nearly 700 business and arts leaders attended the Arts Council's 13th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County at the Jim Rous Theatre in Columbia, Maryland. This year's annual benefit gala raised over $77,000 and an additional $80,000 in donated goods and services for the arts in Howard County.

A Baltimore native and School for the Arts graduate, Tracie previously appeared at CENTERSTAGE in the 2007-08 First Look reading of Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, and the 2001-02 production of A Raisin in the Sun. The cabaret performance will include a mix of contemporary hits, standards, and a sprinkling of songs from Broadway.

Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

Laurel Mill Playhouse, 508 Main Street, Laurel, Md. will hold auditions for 23 teenagers on Thursday, April 29 at 7pm and Saturday, May 1 at 10am for this Shakespearean comedy. Director Michael Hartsfield requests the teenagers auditioning have twenty to thirty lines of any monologue from a Shakespeare play prepared for the audition. Memorization is not necessary.
