A projection design artist isn't necessarily a commonplace credit under a technical crew listing in a playbill, but a handful of designers have joined this fresh new approach to technology in theater. Jared Mezzocchi, a pioneer of the new design field and recent addition to the faculty of the School of Theater, Dance & Performance Studies at the University of Maryland (UMD), had plenty of insights about the emerging art form and its various capacities.

In an unprecedented partnership of four Baltimore cultural organizations, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and The Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric will come together for the first time this December to present Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's full-length holiday classic The Nutcracker.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) opens 2013 with Winnie the Pooh, the third of its Professional 2012-2013 61stSeason, based on the book by A.A. Milne. Directed by Jerry Whiddon, director of the Helen Hayes Award Recipient for Outstanding Production, Theatre for Young Audiences' If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and adapted by Clanché du Rand, Winnie The Pooh will feature Washington, D.C. area favorites including James Gardiner and Todd Scofield in their ATMTC debut and Joshua Morgan, Artistic Director of No Rules Theatre Co. ATMTC will also continue its introduction of youth actors to the professional stage with Holden Brettell as Christopher Robin. This show is recommended for all ages. Registration Open For Winter Arts Classes At Howard County Center For The Arts!

Registration has begun for Howard County Arts Council's (HCAC) winter educational programs at the Howard County Center for the Arts in Ellicott City. HCAC offers classes and workshops for ages five to adult. Winter arts programs, open to the public, begin January 28. Classes range in duration from six to eight weeks.

Olney Theatre Center announces the second extension of its current production, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. The show, which opened on November 17, is now set to run through January 13, 2013. This extension features a number of family-friendly performance times. It has been extended due to the positive response it has garnered from audiences since its opening and the multitude of sold-out shows.

Everyman Theatre has announced the first cast that will perform on its brand new Fayette Street stage. Renowned actress Linda Thorson, well known for her role in the television series The Avengers and over 40 years of experience on the New York and London stage, will join Everyman Resident Company Members Clinton Brandhagen, Deborah Hazlett, Beth Hylton, Wil Love, Bruce Randolph Nelson, and Carl Schurr in the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play, August: Osage County.
