Galen Theater to Stage World Premiere of LIFE SUPPORT

By: Mar. 31, 2016

Galen Theater is proud to announce the world premiere of Life Support, a new play by Madeline Leong, MD.

Dr. Leong, an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, specializes in care for the terminally ill. She is also a published writer and playwright whose plays have been read and performed in Baltimore. Life Support is a humorous and thought-provoking play based on her personal experiences in palliative care, a medical specialty that seeks to provide compassionate, holistic medical care to patients with serious illnesses. Life Support will also encourage a public dialogue about doctor-patient communication.

Life Support is directed by Brent Englar, who from 2010-2014 directed the Mobtown Playwrights Group, the new-play development program at Baltimore's Mobtown Players. The cast includes Elizabeth Ung as Dr. Rachel Lee; Rodney Bonds as Karl Evans; Ann Turiano as Karl's wife, Lori; and Eric Paul Boelsche as Karl's son, Pembroke. Brian S. Kraszewski is the stage manager.

Life Support will open on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Performances will also be held in the Johns Hopkins Hospital's Tilghman Auditorium at 3 p.m. on April 16 and 17 and May 1 and at 8 p.m. on April 27 and 29, and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing on 7:30 p.m. on April 28. Additional performances may be added. For complete details, visit www.galentheater.com/.
