The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) with license from the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact, today announced a one-night-only reading of "8," a play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and AFER Founding Board Member Dustin Lance Black at OBERON on Monday, April 30th at 8pm.

With eight performances still remaining in New Orleans, Disney's THE LION KING is already celebrating a record-breaking engagement at The Mahalia Jackson Theater. By the time the five-week Louisiana premiere engagement concludes on Sunday, April 15, it will have entertained nearly 85,000 people and grossed over $6.5 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing theatrical production in New Orleans history.

Photographer Annie Leibovitz and chef, author and television host Anthony Bourdain will receive honorary CLIO Awards at the 53rd Annual CLIO Awards, taking place at New York's American Museum of Natural History on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:30 PM. The CLIO Awards, which celebrate creative professionals in the advertising, design and communications industries, also recognize visionaries in fields as diverse as photography, fashion, food, travel, literature and film. Leibovitz and Bourdain will be honored for their outstanding bodies of work, which have encouraged people around the world to think differently. Comedy icon Joan Rivers will host the event.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company has announced the addition of five intriguing fall and winter presentations from abroad for its 2012-2013 STC Presents Series. Three of the five presentations, hailing from the United Kingdom and Paris, will explore the psychology of war, the endurance of storytelling and the decadence of an era of aristocracy. The two other presentations will be one-man shows, based on Shakespeare, which will engage younger audiences in January as part of STC's Youth and Family Series.

In Thunder Rock, successful author and former Daily News reporter David Charleston becomes disturbed by the state of the world; he takes a job as a lighthouse keeper and the sole resident of Thunder Rock Island. When he notices a memorial plaque dedicated to a sailing ship of immigrants which fatally crashed on the island 90 years prior, he starts to imagine how ideal life was in their time. Soon, they begin appearing to him. At first he controls them, until they decide to teach him about the eternal struggles of life.

Carnegie Hall invites teenage musical theater students from around the world to participate in its Musical Theater Project, a six-week, interactive online workshop led by Leslie Stifelman, music director and conductor of Broadway's hit musical Chicago, and Tony Award-winning actor Roger Rees. Beginning April 23, the six-week workshop will take place on Carnegie Hall's Musical Exchange online community for teenage musicians (ages 13-19).

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public's 2012-2013 Season, beginning in the fall with an October rededication of The Public's historic downtown building. The season continues the theater's nearly 60 year tradition of developing new theatrical voices and presenting Shakespeare to the entire New York community.
