Music icon Jerry Lee Lewis received a marker on the Mississippi Country Music Trail Thursday afternoon at The Lewis Ranch, his longtime home in Nesbit, Miss. The event was his first public appearance since a minor stroke in March of 2019 and signals a productive 2020 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member. Acclaimed musicians Jakob Dylan, Dhani Harrison, Amos Lee, Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson and Willie Nelson have joined forces to record “For Real—For Tom,” honoring the late Tom Petty. The moving tribute is a cover of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' song “For Real,” which was released in February as part of The Best Of Everything (Geffen Records/UMe), the first career-spanning collection of Petty's hits—including songs from his solo projects, songs with The Heartbreakers and essentials from the reformed Mudcrutch.

Miss Virginia, Camille Schrier, was crowned Miss America 2020 last night live on NBC at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Miss America competition, which returned to NBC this year, was broadcast on NBC and live-streamed on NBC.com in a two-hour live special.

Legendary music impresario and manager Jim Halsey is celebrating more than 70 years in the entertainment industry. A pioneer of COUNTRY MUSIC innovation and expansion, the 89 year old Independence, Kansas native was honored in his hometown with the 2,000 seat auditorium inside Memorial Hall being renamed to the Jim Halsey Auditorium. Now 89, Halsey has booked hundreds of acts and performances at the venue since 1949.
