Set in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1930’s The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is a story about a passionate, charismatic teacher and her “brood” of students. Miss Brodie cares about beauty and art and does not practice the conservative curriculum at Marcia Blaine. Her students and admirers adore her and she loves the adoration. Miss Brodie is bigger than life and a born leader. It is the way she leads that causes concern and eventual betrayal. Romance has little to do with reality and all those involved in this cautionary tale realize that a fire burns bright, but it still burns.
