Leopoldstadt at Austin Shakespeare

Austin Shakespeare will present a staged reading of Tom Stoppard's award-winning play Leopoldstadt at the Dell Jewish Community Center on March 22 and 23. The play chronicles the experiences of a Jewish family in Vienna over several generations, exploring themes of identity, memory, and the impact of antisemitism from the late 19th century through the aftermath of World War II. Directed by Ann Ciccolella, the cast features Laraine Lasdon, Laura Mazer, Jane Schwartz, and Lucas Schwartz, alongside Actors Equity members Sarita Ocón, Brian Coughlin, and others. This poignant work reflects Stoppard's own family history and the tragic consequences of history on personal lives.
