VIDEO: Jim Carrey Delivers Politically Charged Speech at Britannia Awards - 'How Dare They!'

The Britannia Awards were held on Friday night, and usually funny-man Jim Carrey was not joking around.

According to The Wrap, Carrey received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, and in his speech, he name-dropped people who have been in the news lately, such as Colin Kaepernick and Christine Blasey Ford, yelling "How dare they!" at their right-wing critics.

The evening leading up to that point had been mostly non-political, but Carrey, known recently for posting political artwork on social media, was not one to stay silent.

At the end of his speech, he said, "I know this isn't funny. I want to be funny, and I will be again. But things are not very funny these days."

The speech received a partial standing ovation from the crowd.

Jim Carrey is an award-winning actor who has been honored for both his dramatic and comedic work. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, for the title role in Peter Weir's "The Truman Show." Carrey won his second Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, in Milos Forman's "Man on the Moon." Carrey is the subject of the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond," a behind-the-scenes look at his portrayal of Andy Kaufman in "Man on the Moon." In 2017, he showcased his art in the short documentary "Jim Carrey: I Needed Color" which explores his life as an artist. Carrey has starred in dozens of films including "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "Dumb and Dumber," "Liar Liar," "The Mask," and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and on the hit television series "In Living Color."
