Broadway will come together to help one of its own on August 27th, with "Songs for Soraya," presented by the Broadway cast of Rent and friends.  The benefit will take place at The Cutting Rooom (19 W. 24th St.) at 8pm.
 
"Soyara Jackson is the niece of Rent cast member Luther Creek. Soraya is 9 years old and has been battling brain cancer for the last year.  A bunch of Luther's Broadway Friends are coming together to raise money for the families mounting medical bills, to support Luther and to celebrate Soraya's life," state press notes.

The cast will includes: Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Kevin Cahoon (The Wedding Singer), Chester Gregory (Tarzan), Amy Spanger (The Wedding Singer), Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked), Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys), Christian Anderson (Avenue Q), John Eric Parker (All Shook Up), Julie Danao Salkin (Lennon), Darius de Haas (The Man in My Head), Matt Caplan (Rent), Gerry McIntire (The Audience), The Broadway Boys and current Rent cast members, Antonique Smith, Justin Johnston, Christopher J. Hanke, Haven Burton, Destan Owens, Crystal Monee Hall, Marcus Paul James and Luther Creek.

The event will be produced by Jared Rubenstein and directed by Schele Williams, with musical direction by Jim Abbott.
