Oumar Diallo and Cie Kifesh will premiere the choreographic work Nexus – En quête d'une voie at Les Brigittines in Brussels, with performances running from November 11 to 14, 2026, in co-presentation with Les Halles de Schaerbeek.

With Nexus – En quête d'une voie, Oumar Diallo signs his new choreographic creation in which street and club dance address psychiatric disorders with vulnerability.

Presented for the first time at Les Brigittines, from November 11 to 14, 2026, the piece proposes an introspective and emotional journey around psychiatric disorders, carried by a multiple artistic language that draws its energy from street and club dances, notably break, house and hip hop.

Nexus – En quête d'une voie questions our relationship to reality through the notions of 'fréquence différée' and 'réalité différée.' The piece also interrogates the way psychiatric disorders are perceived and understood by society. Oumar seeks to deconstruct, at his own scale, the historical and collective projections surrounding these disorders.

« Retirer la honte et ouvrir le débat. Rapprocher la psychiatrie de nous en tant que société pour juste pouvoir en parler, avec des endroits où la parole peut se libérer. » — Oumar Diallo, entretien pour Get Down

Through his personal experience, Oumar Diallo questions the possibility of rebuilding oneself, of continuing to live and of finding one's own path. Without claiming to have a universal answer, he hopes to convey a message of resilience and hope.

Un spectacle accessible à tou.te.s

Far from being intended solely for people who have experienced psychiatric disorders, this piece is an invitation to introspection. Oumar and his team wish to create an emotional bridge with spectators and encourage understanding of the other through empathy.

« C'est une pièce sensible et vulnérable, il y a un cœur-corps ouvert donné au public, les gens peuvent s'y identifier. » — Oumar Diallo

Les danses street et club sur scène

With four dancers from the Belgian street and club scenes — Jonathan Tshimanga (Dikaay), Kassy Bondoko, Aminata Soumaré and Lucas Guicheteau (Bali) — Oumar Diallo proposes a creation whose choreographic language aims to be legible while remaining artistically demanding.

For Oumar, the stage is a creative playground where he can bring different ways of making and moving. This piece also contributes to the representation of street and club cultures, notably in more institutional venues.

« Parfois, on se heurte encore à des remarques comme : 'On a déjà programmé un spectacle de danses street et club cette saison'. Mais on ne dit pas ça pour le contemporain. On dirait qu'on va tou.te.s raconter la même chose, alors que c'est faux. On a tou.te.s des envies et des choses à dire différentes, et surtout on est tou.te.s des artistes avec des sensibilités différentes. » — Oumar Diallo
