Birdland was awash in Broadway royalty on March 6th, as the Tony-nominated star performed An Evening with Penny Fuller. Composers Sheldon Harnick, Tom Jones and Billy Goldenberg, dancer/actress Marge Champion, choreographer Donald Saddler, and actor George Grizzard were all in attendance, while Veanne Cox and Malcolm Gets also cheered for Fuller.

The concert featured direction by Barry Kleinbort with David Gaines as musical director. Fuller, who received Tony nominations for her performances in Applause and The Dinner Party as well as an Emmy Award for "The Elephant Man," performed songs from some of her Broadway musicals as well as standards and little known gems from the Great American Songbook.
